Italian bureaucracy is notoriously complex for employment, tax registration, and residency procedures. Processing times are long and requirements vary by comune (municipality). Italian language is more important in the professional environment than in northern Europe or the Netherlands; while many tech companies operate in English, integration into Italian professional networks requires Italian fluency. Additionally, Italy's north-south economic divide means that remote work opportunities, coworking infrastructure, and digital connectivity vary significantly by region.
