Job description

About The Back Room

We exist to free our clients' time so they can focus on what they do best — growing their business. We deliver smart, efficient solutions that liberate teams from the everyday admin, and we hold ourselves to the same standard. Time is the ultimate currency, and we treat it like it.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Paralegal to support a US-based client's legal team. This is a broad, generalist role covering core paralegal functions common across most legal environments -- corporate, litigation, contracts, or general in-house support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working independently in a remote setup, and experienced with US legal processes, terminology, and documentation standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and summarize findings for attorneys or in-house counsel

  • Draft, proofread, and format legal documents, correspondence, and contracts

  • Organize, maintain, and manage case files, records, and legal databases

  • Track deadlines, court dates, and filing requirements; manage legal calendars

  • Assist with contract review, redlining, and tracking key terms/obligations

  • Prepare and file legal documents with courts, agencies, or regulatory bodies as needed

  • Support due diligence, compliance documentation, and corporate governance tasks

  • Coordinate with external counsel, clients, vendors, or other stakeholders

  • Manage document version control and e-signature/filing workflows

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive legal and client information

  • Assist with billing, timekeeping, or matter management as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Legal Management, Political Science, or a related field

  • Paralegal certification or equivalent formal training is a plus

  • At least 3 years of experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or in a similar legal support role

  • Prior experience supporting a US-based law firm, in-house legal team, or client is strongly preferred

  • Solid understanding of US legal terminology, documentation standards, and procedures

  • Working knowledge of legal research and case management tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis, Clio, NetDocuments, iManage) is an advantage

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a remote setup

  • Comfortable working US business hours

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a specific practice area (corporate, litigation, real estate, IP, immigration, etc.) -- not required at this stage, as this role is being scoped broadly

  • Experience working with an offshore/remote US-based legal team

  • Familiarity with e-discovery tools or litigation support software

This role is open to Philippine citizens currently based in the Philippines.
