Job description

About the role:

Based at the central office in Aalst, Belgium, the Junior Contract Manager role offers the opportunity to build a career within the offshore energy, dredging industry. As part of our Contract Management team, you will support the contractual management of large-scale international projects ranging from offshore wind farms and subsea cable installations to complex dredging and coastal protection works. Working closely with experienced contract managers, project teams and legal specialists, you will develop your expertise in construction contracts, risk management and project delivery while contributing to some of the world's leading infrastructure projects.

What you’ll do:

As a Junior Contract Manager, you will gradually develop your expertise in contract management, construction law and project risk management. With the support of experienced colleagues, you will learn how to manage contractual relationships, protect Jan De Nul's interests and contribute to the successful execution of our projects.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the management of contracts with subcontractors, suppliers and project partners throughout the execution of offshore and dredging projects.
  • Assisting in the review and interpretation of construction and engineering contracts, helping identify contractual risks and opportunities.
  • Preparing contract notices, correspondence and other contractual documentation under the guidance of senior contract managers.
  • Supporting the preparation of contractual submissions, including delay and cost analyses, together with internal stakeholders and external legal counsel where required.
  • Monitoring contractual obligations and helping ensure compliance throughout the project.
  • Working closely with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams, including planning, finance, insurance and procurement, to support sound contractual decision-making.
  • Maintaining accurate contract documentation and ensuring contractual records are properly organised.
  • Contributing to lessons learned and continuous improvements within the Contract Management team.

At Jan De Nul, teamwork is essential. You will receive extensive coaching from experienced colleagues and have regular contact with the Legal Department, which will support your professional development.

As your experience grows, you will have opportunities to become involved in tender preparation, joint venture agreements, complex contract negotiations and international projects worldwide.

What do you need?

  • A Master's degree in Law, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Commercial Engineering, or another relevant field.
  • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. A first experience through an internship or up to two years of relevant work experience in contract management, legal advisory, construction, engineering or infrastructure is considered an asset, but is not required.
  • An interest in construction contracts, project management and commercial negotiations.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills, with attention to detail.
