As part of a large procurement organisation, you will be responsible for managing our procurement activities at an operational level for your relevant category. You will be supported in this by Procurement Excellence and a team of category buyers.
As an operational food buyer, you will have a broad procurement portfolio comprising all food and related products on our various ships and shipyards at home and abroad.
In this role, you will work on the range of food, non-food (e.g. cookware, kitchen appliances, etc.) and restricted products (e.g. alcohol) supplied to our ships and shipyards.
Your main tasks and responsibilities:
  • Requesting quotations and selecting ship suppliers with the aim of achieving the best value for money.
  • Managing food lists relating to shore-based operations and suppliers.
  • Monitoring the correct delivery of ordered products to ensure that delivery deadlines are met.
  • Monitoring and handling complaints with a view to the ongoing evaluation of suppliers.
  • Holding regular (online) meetings with suppliers to improve the quality of deliveries and collaboration.
  • Monitoring invoices received to ensure correct payment to suppliers.
  • Negotiating and purchasing standard equipment. Subsequently, also compiling catalogues for standard equipment on board the vessels: kitchen fittings, galley equipment, etc., in consultation with the Procurement Manager.
  • Adjusting orders placed by the ship’s officers.
Profile
You hold a bachelor’s degree or have equivalent experience. Experience in retail, hotel management and/or kitchen work, as well as initial experience within a procurement organisation, would be an advantage. You are a good communicator, meticulous and cost-conscious. You can express yourself fluently in Dutch and English.
