Job description

About the role:

With our expertise in offshore projects, Jan De Nul Group plays a leading role in the energy transition and we make active contributions to sustainable energy solutions. Our projects range from intervention works on the seabed, subsea rock installation and ballasting, to the installation of offshore wind farms and subsea power and communication cables. With us, you work on innovative offshore projects with tangible impact on the future, in an international and dynamic environment.

What you’ll do:

As an Offshore Procurement Engineer, you are much more than a buyer. You form the strategic link between engineering, project teams and an international network of suppliers. With your technical knowledge, commercial flair and analytical insight, you ensure that every offshore project can rely on the right materials, under the best conditions, at the right time.
You are involved in projects from A to Z: from the first request for quotation to execution at sea. In doing so, you actively think along about technical choices, procurement strategies and optimisations that truly make a difference to the project result.

Your responsibilities include:

  • You develop and safeguard the project-specific procurement strategy, fully aligned with technical requirements, timing and budget.
  • You search worldwide for new suppliers, assess them on quality, risk and cost price, and build sustainable collaborations.
  • You advise project and engineering teams on the selection of equipment and spare parts during the award phase.
  • You closely monitor market prices and trends and use that knowledge strategically in negotiations.
  • You contribute to complex DBFM, D&B and EPC projects, in close cooperation with the project team.
  • You negotiate contracts and build long-term relationships with suppliers all over the world.
  • You have regular contact with international partners and occasionally visit foreign suppliers or project locations, which brings variety and dynamism to your job.

What do you need?

  • You have a Master’s degree in Engineering; any experience in offshore or cable procurement is a nice plus.
  • Managing multiple projects at the same time? You do it effortlessly and continue to develop yourself continuously.
  • You combine communication and commercial skills with analytical insight and technical knowledge to make smart and strategic choices for project procurement.
  • You are a proactive team player based at the head office in Aalst, willing to make regular short trips abroad and thereby contribute directly to international projects.
