Senior Accounts Payable Specialist (High-Volume AP)

6-Month W2 Contract
Pay: $70.00 - $80.00/hr depending on experience
Location:Remote (U.S.)
Time Zone: Must be able to work Pacific Time (PST) business hours

 

Russell Tobin is partnering with a rapidly growing, industry-leading AI technology company to hire an experienced Senior Accounts Payable Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced finance organization supporting both U.S. and international operations while helping build scalable accounts payable processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end accounts payable process for U.S. and international vendors.
  • Process a high volume of invoices (500-800+ invoices per month) while maintaining accuracy and meeting SLA deadlines.
  • Review invoices for proper accounting treatment, GL coding, sales tax/VAT compliance, and purchase order matching.
  • Monitor the AP inbox to ensure invoices are routed appropriately and vendor inquiries are resolved promptly.
  • Partner closely with Legal, Procurement, IT, Tax, Accounting, and Finance teams to resolve invoice and payment issues.
  • Review vendor statements, reconcile discrepancies, and follow up to ensure timely payments.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate AP workflows while helping scale finance operations.
  • Document processes, recommend best practices, and support continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with reporting, special projects, and other ad hoc finance initiatives.


Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Accounts Payable experience, including processing invoices in both the U.S. and at least one international market.
  • Recent experience processing high invoice volumes (500-800+ invoices per month) is required.
  • Experience working in a rapid-growth technology company with evolving processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve and scale AP operations.
  • Strong understanding of invoice processing, purchase order matching, GL coding, accruals, and tax considerations.
  • Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience handling confidential financial information.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple business functions.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Accounting degree or professional accounting background.
  • Experience with Workday and Zip HQ.
  • Experience using AP automation technologies, including OCR, RPA, and electronic invoicing solutions.
  • Experience coding cloud, infrastructure, networking, hardware, or data center invoices, including:
    • General Ledger coding
    • Cost center allocations
    • Accruals
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to improve finance or AP workflows.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
