Job Spec: 3D Artist (Blender & Real-Time Specialist)
Location: Remote
Reporting to: Creative Director
The Role
We are looking for a versatile and technically proficient 3D Artist to join our growing creative team. You will be responsible for bringing complex concepts to life through high-quality modeling and fluid animation, primarily using Blender. As we specialize in interactive web-based demos, your primary challenge will be the "magic trick" of 3D: making assets look like high-end cinema while keeping them lightweight enough to load
instantly in a mobile browser. You will work under our Creative Director and alongside our development team to bridge the gap between high-fidelity art and web performance.
Key Responsibilities
● Modeling & Texturing: Create high-quality 3D assets optimized for performance. This includes expert-level retopology and baking high-to-low poly details.
● Animation: Develop smooth, purposeful animations—ranging from mechanical movements to
environmental storytelling—using Blender’s animation suite.
● Web Optimization: Ensure all assets are "game-ready" for the browser, focusing on low draw calls, efficient texture atlasing, and minimal file sizes.
● Collaboration: Work alongside other 3D artists and frontend developers to ensure visual consistency and technical compatibility.
● Pipeline Integration: Prepare and export assets (primarily glTF/GLB) that are ready for immediate implementation into our interactive platforms.
Technical Requirements
● Blender Mastery: Advanced proficiency in modeling, retopology, rigging, shading, and animation.
● Real-Time Optimization: Proven experience creating assets for web-based engines (Three.js, Babylon.js, or PlayCanvas). You should be an expert in:
○ Polygon Budgeting: Keeping mesh density low without losing silhouette.
○ Texture Compression: Efficient use of 1k/2k textures and PBR workflows.
○ Draw Call Reduction: Merging meshes and materials strategically.
● Visual Flair: A strong portfolio demonstrating a mastery of lighting and material creation.
Bonus Points
● Development Experience: Experience working directly within a dev sprint, using version control (Git), or understanding the limitations of WebGL.
● Technical Art: Knowledge of Python scripting within Blender to automate export pipelines.
● Material Science: Experience with KHR extensions for glTF (clearcoat, transmission, sheen) to achieve high-end looks in the browser.
