Job Title: Management Accountant – Overseas
Reporting to: Finance Director
Location: South Africa Remote
Role Summary:
This is an exciting opportunity to join a global recruitment business as a Management Accountant. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, the role offers hands-on experience in management accounting, financial reporting, and business partnering. The successful candidate will take full ownership of financial processes for a number of entities in the group (consisting of Ireland, Netherlands, Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore) while supporting other areas of the consolidated group P&L and balance sheet. This role does not involve direct management responsibilities but offers a broad scope of work and opportunities for development.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Management Accounting:
o Prepare a number of manual journals for entry into the finance system.
o Prepare month-end reconciliations of key balance sheet accounts for the business.
o Take ownership of the Profit and Loss (P&L) variance analysis on a monthly basis, performing a critical review and producing meaningful commentary and delivering to senior stakeholders.
o Assist in the preparation of budgets for overhead cost lines.
o Own the set-up, management and ongoing delivery of the cost allocation mechanism across the group using pre-set allocation methodology (headcount and consumption) to ensure costs allocated correctly.
o Lead the reporting of P&L’s by cost centres, being responsible for both inputs and outputs and business partnering with budget leads to ensure commercial decision making.
2. Financial Reporting and Reconciliation:
o Own the production and review of items across the EUR, MENA and APAC balance sheets.
o Work with the head of billing to reconcile Work-in Progress (WIP) accounts, and provide appropriate provisions.
o Review all balance sheet items on a monthly basis for the UK/EURMENA/APAC entities. Provide these on a monthly basis for the FA/FD to review.
3. Business Partnering:
o Build trusted relationships with key stakeholders, including the Managing Directors of the international entities.
o Provide insight and analysis to support decision-making.
4. Tax and Statutory Filings:
o Work closely with the FA and where necessary the international tax advisors to ensure explanations in relation to financial statements and tax are up to date.
o Prepare and file VAT returns for all regions, provide feedback to both the billing manager on sales invoices to ensure continued compliance. Ensure that VAT reclaims are being processed in line with local requirements, and assist in developing processes to ensure this happens.
o Work with the overseas auditors as needed by the FA to assist in their testing of transactions and balances within the roles remit.
5. Payroll and Journals:
o Process and reconcile payroll entries, produce year-end payroll reconciliations.
o Prepare journals, including revenue, prepayments, and accruals.
Candidate Profile:
• Experience:
o Demonstrable experience in management accounting, including journal preparation, reconciliations, and financial reporting within a group.
o Exposure to business partnering and statutory reporting is highly desirable.
o Experience working with an international organisation including exposure to FX.
• Skills:
o A thorough understanding of the building blocks of accounting, including strong double entry, group transactions, management recharges and accruals-based accounting.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships within finance and across the business.
o Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Qualifications:
o Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent). Minimum of 2 years PQE.
• Other:
o Familiarity with the accounting system such as Netsuite is highly desired
o An understanding of the recruitment sector.
o A proactive attitude with a desire to take ownership and broaden experience.

● Basic Salary Only - Ranging between R45 000 - R55 000 per month
