Azure Cloud Engineer (Remote)

Location: Remote (but must reside within 50 miles of ZIP code 23116)
Employment Type: 8 Month Contract w/ possible extensions 
Work Arrangement: 100% Remote
Interview Process: Phone or In-Person
Pay Rate: $55.00 to $59.42

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer to support enterprise cloud infrastructure, application operations, and cloud security. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, PowerShell/Python, Terraform, Entra ID, Azure Virtual Desktop, and cloud infrastructure management.

This position involves engineering, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing Azure cloud environments while collaborating with development, infrastructure, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, maintain, and optimize Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and services.

  • Support Azure App Services, API Management/Gateways, Function Apps, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).

  • Monitor cloud performance, availability, and security using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics.

  • Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure, networking, application connectivity, and performance issues.

  • Manage Entra ID, Single Sign-On (SSO), IAM, Azure Key Vault, certificates, and secrets.

  • Automate infrastructure deployment and maintenance using Terraform, PowerShell, and Python.

  • Support cloud governance, security compliance, cost optimization, and high-availability solutions.

  • Maintain infrastructure documentation, change management procedures, and disaster recovery plans.

  • Collaborate with engineering and application teams to resolve production issues.

  • Participate in rotating application/help desk support and occasional after-hours maintenance.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Microsoft Azure administration and cloud engineering experience.

  • 2+ years working with Windows Server environments, networking, firewalls, load balancers, and infrastructure.

  • 2+ years of scripting experience with PowerShell and/or Python.

  • 1+ year of Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform or equivalent.

  • Experience with Microsoft 365, Power Apps, Entra ID, and SSO administration.

  • Experience supporting enterprise cloud security and compliance, including PCI or similar frameworks.

  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).

  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, and Git.

  • Experience with Azure Key Vault, certificate management, and cloud governance.

  • Knowledge of Azure cost management and optimization.

  • Azure certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-305, or equivalent.

Additional Requirements

  • Must physically reside within the United States throughout the assignment.

  • Must successfully complete a fingerprint-based background check.

  • Must be available for occasional after-hours support.
