Job description

SQL Server DBA 

Location: Remote (but must reside in the Mechanicsville, VA area)
Employment Type: 8 Month Contract with extensions
Work Arrangement: 100% Remote
Interview Process: Phone or In-Person
Pay Rate: $55.00 to $56.00

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced SQL Server DBA / Cloud Database Administrator to support enterprise SQL Server databases, cloud environments, and critical business applications. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in SQL Server administration, T-SQL, performance tuning, high availability, and cloud database technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, monitor, and maintain SQL Server databases to ensure performance, security, and availability.

  • Install, upgrade, patch, migrate, and troubleshoot SQL Server databases.

  • Configure and support SQL clustering, mirroring, failover, and high-availability solutions.

  • Write, debug, and optimize T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and database scripts.

  • Perform database performance tuning and troubleshoot application connectivity issues.

  • Support SQL Server 2019, 2022, and newer versions.

  • Support cloud database environments, including Azure, Snowflake, or Databricks.

  • Automate database maintenance using Windows scripting tools.

  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to resolve technical issues.

  • Participate in rotating application and help desk support responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of Microsoft SQL Server database administration experience.

  • 2+ years of SQL Server installation, upgrades, patching, and migrations.

  • 1+ year of SQL Server performance tuning and T-SQL development.

  • Experience with SQL clustering, mirroring, and high availability.

  • Experience supporting large SQL Server databases in Windows environments.

  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Azure Cloud, Snowflake, or Databricks (1+ year or relevant certification).

  • Experience with SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS.

  • Knowledge of database design, data modeling, and automation.

  • Experience supporting enterprise applications and cloud database environments.

Additional Requirements

  • Must physically reside within the United States throughout the assignment.

  • Must successfully complete a fingerprint-based background check.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with technical teams.
