Job description

Dev10 is seeking a Full Stack Data Engineering Instructor for a Remote position. This is an 8+ month contract-to-hire opportunity.

This position is ideal for an experienced data professional who enjoys teaching, mentoring, and helping others launch successful careers in technology. The successful candidate will guide Associates through an intensive data engineering training program focused on data pipelines, cloud data platforms, SQL, Python, ETL/ELT processes, big data technologies, data modeling, and modern data engineering practices. In addition to delivering instruction and providing technical coaching, the Instructor will collaborate with fellow instructors to continuously improve curriculum and ensure Associates are prepared to meet the evolving needs of enterprise clients in a data-driven world.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in training activities daily during core hours of 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM CT
  • Deliver technical instruction, demonstrations, hands-on workshops, and Q&A sessions focused on data engineering concepts and technologies
  • Create an engaging and supportive learning environment that promotes student success
  • Monitor Associate progress and provide coaching to help learners achieve technical and professional development objectives
  • Support and troubleshoot student challenges during labs, exercises, and project work
  • Foster confidence, accountability, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills among Associates
  • Conduct weekly reviews of data engineering projects, pipelines, and code, providing detailed and constructive feedback
  • Evaluate technical assignments against industry standards, best practices, and client expectations
  • Meet one-on-one with Associates who need additional support or guidance
  • Collaborate with the instructional team to continuously improve curriculum, labs, and training materials
  • Support technical evaluations and assessments used during the recruiting process
  • Mentor new instructors as they develop classroom management and instructional skills
  • Stay current on emerging data engineering technologies, cloud platforms, and industry trends

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering, Data Analytics Engineering, Software Engineering with a strong data focus, or related disciplines
  • Strong understanding of data engineering principles, architectures, and best practices
  • Passion for mentoring, coaching, and developing technical talent
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to individuals with varying levels of experience
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills

  • Previous experience as a technical instructor, trainer, educator, teaching assistant, or mentor
  • Experience leading technical workshops, bootcamps, or training programs
  • Experience reviewing code and data engineering projects
  • Experience building and maintaining enterprise data pipelines
  • Experience coaching junior data professionals or early-career technology talent
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, Snowflake, or similar modern data platforms
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices for data engineering solutions
  • Exposure to machine learning workflows, MLOps, or AI/Generative AI technologies
  • Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka, Event Hubs, or Kinesis
  • Curriculum development or instructional design experience
