Job description

About The Back Room

We exist to free our clients' time so they can focus on what they do best — growing their business. We deliver smart, efficient solutions that liberate teams from the everyday admin, and we hold ourselves to the same standard. Time is the ultimate currency, and we treat it like it.

About the Client
Our client is a public accounting and advisory firm based in California, USA, that is growing its offshore team to support audit, tax, accounting, and advisory functions. This role exists to help deliver high-quality client service by supporting financial reporting, compliance, and business advisory engagements across a diverse portfolio of privately held businesses, nonprofits, and high-net-worth individuals.

The Role
The Accountant is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy of financial data. This role involves hands-on bookkeeping, full-charge accounting (debits and credits), journal entries, and periodic cleanup work. The Supervisor also provides training and review support to the accounting team.

What You'll Do

  • Handle full-charge accounting, including debits, credits, and journal entries.

  • Oversee bookkeeping activities to ensure accurate and timely recording of transactions.

  • Review the work of junior accountants and provide training, feedback, and technical guidance.

  • Prepare and review account reconciliations, financial schedules, and supporting documents.

  • Perform quarterly and annual cleanups and ensure the general ledger is accurate and complete.

  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation of financial reports.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • At least 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience, with 1–2 years in a supervisory role.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.

  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar).

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

  • CPA or equivalent certification is an advantage

Why This Role

Beyond managing accounting processes, you'll have the opportunity to drive improvements, strengthen internal controls, and contribute to strategic financial initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing technical accounting expertise with team leadership and wants to make a meaningful impact in a growing organization.
