Mary's Meals

Humanitarian & Emergency Relief

Our idea is a simple one that works. We provide one daily meal in a place of education in order to attract chronically hungry children into a classroom, where they receive an education that can, in the future, be their ladder out of poverty. Mary's Meals began by feeding 200 children in Malawi. Today we feed more than 2 million hungry children every day. The average worldwide cost for us to feed a child for a whole school year is just £19.15/ €22.00/ $25.20 (USD). Wherever possible, Mary's Meals uses locally grown food to support the local economy. We work hard to keep our running costs low and to ensure that at least 93% of donations go on our charitable work. This is only possible since most of our work is done by an army of volunteers. With 67 million children of primary school age (about 6 to 11 years) out of school, our work is just beginning.
