Location: Colombia

This role is employed through RemoFirst, Porch Group's Employer of Record partner in Colombia. Your employment will be legally administered through RemoFirst, while your day-to-day work is led by Porch Group.

The US Payroll Specialist supports the overall success of the payroll department by ensuring accurate, timely payroll processing, delivering responsive customer service, and building productive relationships with employees, managers, peers, and leadership. 

This role is an opportunity to contribute to a growing organization while supporting payroll accuracy, compliance, and a positive employee experience at Porch Group. 

  

What You Will Do As A US Payroll Specialist

  • Payroll Reporting: Prepare, review, and distribute payroll-related reports, including compensation, taxes, garnishments, deductions, earnings registers, payroll files, and other recurring or ad hoc reporting needs. 

  • W-2 Processing: Issue annual W-2 forms to employees. 

  • Employee and Manager Support: Respond to payroll questions from employees and managers, research issues, and provide clear, timely resolutions. 

  • Process Improvement: Identify payroll process gaps, recommend improvements, and support more efficient, accurate, and compliant payroll operations. 

  • Data Integrity: Perform payroll data audits, identify discrepancies, and partner with internal stakeholders to maintain accurate employee and payroll records. 

  • SOX Compliance: Follow Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls and maintain documentation that supports payroll accuracy, audit readiness, and compliance. 

  • Payroll Processing: Enter, audit, review, correct, and transmit payroll data to support accurate and timely payroll processing. 

  • On-cycle and Off-cycle Payroll: Calculate and prepare payroll payments, including final pay, stock options, commissions, and other supplemental or off-cycle payments. 

  • E-filing: Complete electronic filing of payroll-related documents and maintain organized payroll records. 

  • Tax Compliance: Research, analyze, and resolve payroll tax issues while supporting compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements. 

  • Timekeeping Support: Maintain time punches and related payroll inputs in the time management system. 

  • System Expertise: Serve as a resource for timekeeping and scheduling modules, including troubleshooting, guidance, and process support. 

  • Third-Party Requests: Process garnishments, levies, bankruptcies, and child support wage assignments. 

  

What You Will Bring As A US Payroll Specialist

  • Payroll Experience: 5+ years of experience processing full-cycle US payroll for 500+ employees, including multi-jurisdictional payroll. 

  • Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify inconsistencies, research discrepancies, and complete work accurately with minimal supervision. 

  • Payroll Systems: 1+ year of Workday payroll experience preferred, or 2+ years of experience using another US payroll system. 

  • Employment Law Knowledge: Working knowledge of federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, including overtime requirements. 

  • Excel Proficiency: Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including formulas, data validation, reconciliations, and payroll-related analysis. 

  • Confidentiality: Ability to protect confidential employee and payroll information with discretion and professionalism. 

  • Problem Solving: Self-starter who can troubleshoot issues, recommend practical solutions, and follow through on resolution. 

  • Collaboration: Strong communication, follow-up, and task-sharing skills with the ability to work effectively across teams. 

  • Business Process Understanding: Ability to understand, document, and improve payroll-related business processes.

  • Experience working with global and/or US based business teams 

  • Excellent written and communication skills in English language

  • Workspace: A quiet space to work, an internet connection of at least 30 Mbps download | 10 Mbps upload
