Job description

Overview:

Goldbelt Professional Services specializes in providing expert resources for Public Health missions including scientific, technical, and administrative support from junior staff to high-level subject matter experts. Summary:

The Public Health Analyst II (PHA) will support the mission of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD) programs and surveillance activities focused on birth defects, developmental disabilities, maternal and child health, and related public health initiatives. The PHA II will provide analytical, stakeholder engagement, and program support services to advance CDC's efforts in monitoring, evaluating, and improving health outcomes among affected populations. 

 

Candidate will work onsite in Atlanta, GA two days a week.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop a current prevalence estimate of congenital heart defects (CHDs) in the United States (i.e., annually) using a variety of inputs, including but not limited to claims data, mortality data, birth defects data, and administrative/clinical data. 
  • Provide a study plan, a data collection and management plan, and a data analysis plan to the COR/Project Team for review/approval.
  • Perform frequent (i.e., weekly) statistical analyses and reporting of data collected from DBDID birth defects surveillance systems and generate files, reports and tables from the data analyzed in a variety of formats (e.g., SAS, CSV, XML) for CDC program staff, as requested. Statistical analyses shall include prevalence ratios and trend analyses from multiple jurisdictions. This requires using advanced statistical programming (e.g., SAS and R) to collect data from multiple jurisdictions cleaning data, validating the data, analyzing the data using advanced epidemiologic methods (e.g., regression models), and summarizing results. 
  • Perform complex and advanced statistical analyses of longitudinal surveillance and research data, prepare reports, manuscripts, briefing materials, etc., of surveillance and research results for publications, using SAS, R, or other open-source language
  • Develop and implement specific study design elements including 
    •    i. Statistical aspects such as power and sample size calculations, 
    •    ii. Data management and data analyses plans, and, 
    •    iii. Development of study procedures for surveillance data collection and case ascertainment; and indicate best recommendations among different sampling plans, surveillance data sources, and cost/time investments. 

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Sciences, Biology, Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting public health surveillance, epidemiology, healthcare data collection, or public health program operations. 
  • Experience managing and analyzing large public health, healthcare, or surveillance datasets
  • Proficiency in SAS, R, SQL, and data visualization tools.
  • Knowledge of epidemiologic methods, statistical analysis, data quality management, and public health surveillance systems.
  • Experience preparing technical documentation and communicating analytic findings to diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and data management systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Data Science, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working with multi-state surveillance systems and collaborating with state health departments and public health partners.
  • Experience with publishing.
  • Knowledge of Congenital Heart Defects.

 

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90,000-$105,000 annually.
