The Department of Epidemiology at Emory's Rollins School of Public Health seeks a Public Health Program Asc, Sr to coordinate and support a portfolio of aging and caregiving research. The primary assignment is to direct an intergenerational caregiving intervention trial, which addresses mental health, social isolation, and loneliness among caregiving youth and older adults. Depending on skills and effort needs, the position may be split across a second project topics such as elder abuse, family caregivers who are older/grandfamily/kinship caregivers, or neighborhoods and cognitive aging. The role combines project coordination, qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, and scientific writing, with opportunities for lead or co-authorship.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Independently uses a specialized knowledge of, and experience, with public health principles to analyze, develop, implement, and promote solutions to public health issues/problems.
• Collects and analyzes data.
• Prepares proposals, protocols, data analysis plans, reports, manuscripts, and presentation of study findings.
• Addresses public health issues by providing education, technical assistance, advocacy, public awareness, and research.
• Works with programs or studies designed to evaluate the prevalence or surveillance of public health issues and the effectiveness of targeted interventions.
• May coordinate clinical study sites to ensure compliance with patient recruitment and data collection standards.
• May provide technical assistance to organizations to include presentations, websites, strategies, and educational forums to address specific public health issues.
• May design, develop, and conduct targeted training initiatives.
• May collaborate with external organizations to develop action plans and goals to achieve specific objectives.
• Identifies new potential projects, studies or partners.
• Performs related responsibilities as required.

Project Portfolio

• Primary Assignment: Intergenerational Caregiving Intervention. Develops and tests a tailored intervention for caregiving youth and older caregivers in partnership with two community organizations in Palm Beach County, Florida. Activities include an environmental scan, focus groups, intervention development, recruitment and delivery, evaluation, and dissemination.

Other Potential Assignments:

• Elder Abuse Science and Evidence. Reviews and summarizes the literature to identify research and data gaps, and supports a Delphi process with a panel of elder abuse experts to prioritize those gaps.
• Creating and Advancing Caregiving Research and Evidence, CARE Network. Reviews papers and extracts data on family caregivers, and analyzes completed scans to recommend common measures of caregiver identity and health outcomes.
• Lifecourse Cognability. Mixed-methods study to understand which neighborhood factors matter across the life course.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• A master's degree in Public Health, a master of science degree in Public Health or Health Education, or a master's degree in Development Practice and three years of relevant applied public health experience OR a master's degree in another field and four years of public health experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFIFCATIONS:

• Quantitative and analytic skills sufficient to serve in an analyst capacity, including survey programming and statistical analysis of large cohort study datasets.
• Experience with aging, caregiving, or elder abuse research.
• Strong scientific writing and the ability to meet authorship thresholds for peer-reviewed publications.
• Experience coordinating multi-site or community-partnered research.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department.
