Senior Accountant

Remote | Full-Time | W-2

Position Overview

The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of the organization through accurate accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and process improvements. This position will lead month-end and year-end close activities, prepare financial statements, support audits, and provide meaningful financial insights that help leadership make informed business decisions.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, comfortable working independently in a remote environment, and passionate about improving accounting processes through technology and automation.



Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and other financial records.
  • Maintain fixed asset and prepaid schedules as needed.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial records.

Accounting Operations

  • Manage or support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Coordinate tax reporting and work with external tax advisors.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable financial regulations.

Analysis & Process Improvement

  • Analyze financial results and provide meaningful recommendations to leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and efficiencies.
  • Leverage automation and AI-powered tools where appropriate to improve workflows.
  • Assist with ERP implementations, upgrades, or financial system improvements.

Collaboration

  • Partner with leadership, operations, tax, and external advisors on strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare reports and financial information to support executive decision-making.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented culture focused on continuous improvement.



Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Experience leading month-end and year-end close.
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, SAP, Xero, or similar ERP systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines.

Preferred

  • CPA designation (active or in progress).
  • Experience in a multi-entity environment.
  • Experience supporting audits and tax compliance.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Experience implementing accounting automation or financial technology solutions.
  • Professional services, consulting, legal, financial services, or multi-company experience.
