Job description

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for senior litigation professionals with deep expertise in civil litigation, complex commercial disputes, discovery, trial strategy, arbitration, and appellate practice.

This role supports advanced AI evaluation work focused on realistic litigation and dispute-resolution workflows. Selected experts will design complex legal scenarios, develop reference outputs, and create evaluation rubrics that reflect how experienced litigators approach case strategy, evidence, procedure, motion practice, trials, and arbitration.

Key Responsibilities

Civil & Commercial Litigation

  • Develop realistic scenarios involving complex civil and commercial disputes
  • Create tasks spanning case strategy, pleadings, pre-trial preparation, and dispute resolution
  • Evaluate legal arguments for procedural accuracy, evidentiary support, and strategic soundness
  • Produce reference pleadings, legal memoranda, and litigation analyses
  • Identify weaknesses, unsupported assumptions, and procedural risks in litigation strategies

Discovery & Evidence

  • Design scenarios involving document discovery, depositions, evidence management, and disclosure obligations
  • Apply relevant discovery and evidentiary rules to complex factual situations
  • Develop tasks involving e-discovery platforms such as Relativity, Everlaw, or comparable tools
  • Evaluate privilege, relevance, admissibility, preservation, and evidentiary issues
  • Produce reference discovery responses and evidence analyses

Motion Practice & Trial Strategy

  • Develop tasks involving dispositive motions, evidentiary motions, and other major stages of litigation
  • Apply professional judgement to case strategy, witness preparation, and trial planning
  • Draft reference motions, trial memoranda, and strategic analyses
  • Evaluate arguments for legal strength, procedural compliance, and practical effectiveness
  • Assess how evidentiary and procedural decisions affect broader litigation strategy

Arbitration & Dispute Resolution

  • Create scenarios involving settlement strategy, mediation, and domestic or international arbitration
  • Apply relevant arbitration frameworks such as ICC, LCIA, or comparable rules where appropriate
  • Evaluate procedural strategy, submissions, evidence, and dispute-resolution options
  • Develop reference analyses reflecting senior-level advocacy and negotiation judgement
  • Assess trade-offs between litigation, arbitration, and negotiated resolution

Appellate & Procedural Analysis

  • Develop tasks involving appellate strategy, preservation of issues, standards of review, and procedural requirements
  • Apply US frameworks such as the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, Federal Rules of Evidence, and relevant state-court rules
  • Apply international frameworks such as the English Civil Procedure Rules where relevant
  • Evaluate legal reasoning for procedural and jurisdictional accuracy
  • Identify issues affecting appealability, preservation, and litigation outcomes

AI Evaluation & Rubric Development

  • Design expert-level evaluation tasks across litigation and dispute-resolution workflows
  • Draft reference outputs demonstrating authentic senior-level litigation judgement
  • Develop rubrics that distinguish professional litigation reasoning from generic academic or examination-level responses
  • Review AI-generated outputs for legal accuracy, procedural soundness, evidentiary reasoning, and strategic quality
  • Identify subtle errors, missing considerations, and unrealistic litigation recommendations
  • Provide clear written rationale supporting evaluation decisions

Ideal Profile

  • 5+ years of professional experience in litigation, trial advocacy, dispute resolution, arbitration, or a closely related field
  • Senior-level experience as a Litigator, Trial Attorney, Litigation Counsel, Barrister, Solicitor Advocate, or comparable legal professional
  • Experience within a major litigation firm, corporate litigation department, specialist disputes practice, or comparable environment
  • Direct ownership of complex commercial litigation, class actions, arbitration matters, or significant civil disputes
  • Strong understanding of court procedure, discovery, evidence, motion practice, and trial strategy
  • Familiarity with litigation technologies, including e-discovery and case-management platforms
  • Experience with US litigation frameworks, English civil procedure, international arbitration, or a combination of these
  • Strong written communication and ability to explain complex litigation reasoning clearly and precisely
  • JD with bar admission or an equivalent recognised international legal qualification is strongly preferred
  • Experience developing legal training materials, evaluation rubrics, litigation guidance, or professional review frameworks is advantageous
