Job description

We are currently looking for a Health and Safety Advisor to join our Health & Safety team and be part of our continuing growth.  You will be working remotely, supporting our Southern Operation Centres from Kent, Essex, Bedfordshire, Cambridge, Avon etc up to the Midlands.

As the Health and Safety Advisor, you will be responsible for ensuring that the company is compliant with relevant health & safety legislation, company procedures, and best practice.

You will be the point of contact for managers, to provide them with the necessary support and advice on health & safety matters.

The salary for this position is £35,000 + Car Allowance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Health & Safety Manager in ensuring compliance with health & safety legislation, company policies, procedures, and best practice.
  • Act as the primary health & safety advisor, providing guidance and support to managers and colleagues across the business.
  • Develop and review health & safety risk assessments, safe systems of work and company policies, ensuring the MyCopart intranet is kept up to date.
  • Conduct accident investigations, report incidents under RIDDOR where required, and produce monthly accident statistics and compliance reports.
  • Carry out health & safety inspections and audits across operational centres, monitoring compliance and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
  • Coordinate health & safety training and communicate key health & safety information across the business.
  • Manage Head Office and Facilities compliance activities, including workplace inspections, fire safety systems, emergency drills, PAT testing, emergency lighting, first aid, Legionella monitoring, and statutory compliance testing.
  • Chair Health & Safety Committee meetings, monitor agreed actions, and maintain accurate compliance records.
  • Coordinate contractor maintenance, statutory inspections, and external compliance requirements, ensuring cost-effective service delivery and budget control.
  • Build effective relationships with managers, colleagues, contractors, the HSE, emergency services and other external stakeholders, providing timely advice and support on health & safety matters.
  • Monitor Health & Safety expenditure, including reviewing Expense watch orders to ensure effective budget management.

  • To be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment 
  • Good IT skills, especially in Word, PowerPoint, Excel & Outlook
  • Have the ability to provide an excellent customer experience and deliver operational excellence in the role.
