The position requires an individual that has experience of leading a team to deliver high quality output, whilst managing a portfolio of deliverables, along with an ability to interpret and apply technical rules and regulations.  Whilst based in Glasgow, this role has responsibilities globally which presents a unique opportunity to build networks across Tax, Finance and the wider organisation. The team is seeking an individual with a strong skillset to join the Group as a Director.  This is an exciting opportunity to join this Tax Team.

This is a Director level position within our Tax & Advisory Job Family which ensures compliance with income and indirect tax filings, reports tax information for the Firm’s regulatory filings, manages the Firm’s global tax authority relationships, including tax controversy and monitors relevant tax regulations and legislation. Additional responsibilities include managing the Firm’s domestic and international tax strategies, determining the Firm’s transfer pricing policies and advising Senior Management and BUs on business products, strategic transactions and restructuring objectives.

In the Finance division, we act as a partner to business units around the globe by providing management, review, analysis and advisory services of the Firm’s financial and capital resources.

What you'll do:

The Morgan Stanley Tax Department is searching for a Tax Director who will be responsible for Global tax bookings. 

-Managing the monthly, quarterly and annual tax bookings process for Global tax team

-Working with Global tax teams to understand and execute the tax bookings, building sufficient processes and controls to provide comfort to the local tax teams

-Working with the Global Tax Controllers’ team to ensure the proper training, execution and documentation of processes

-Driving innovation and process efficiency improvements, including automation of the processes

-Establish, develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.

-Managing, developing, and coaching staff, helping them achieve their full potential

-Manage other reporting requirements and analysis as required.


What we’re looking for:

-Qualified accountant, CTA or equivalent qualification – or relevant experience.

-Background in an accounting, bank, or in-house tax department.

-Ability to interpret and apply technical rules and regulations.

-Familiarity with GL bookings.

-Experience of leading and motivating a team to deliver high quality output to an agreed schedule, with confidence to question and challenge precedents and existing working practices.

-Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, and the ability to work independently.

-Applicants should have a record of managing a portfolio of deliverables and meeting tight deadlines.

-Ability to multi-task in fast paced environment and to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

-Ability and desire to improve and create processes to increase efficiencies and completeness in the tax bookings process.

-A high level of personal commitment, self-motivation, and an innovative, flexible, and team player attitude.

-Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
