Your mission

Are you a passionate (Senior) UX/UI Designer who wants to make a direct and measurable impact on users' lives? Are you tired of working in environments where UX/UI takes a back seat or is undervalued? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our growing UX team at Checkmk and make a real difference! At Checkmk, we don't just talk about user-centricity, we live it.

As our new UX/UI all-rounder, your mission will be to create positive UX/UI in initiatives that make our IT monitoring software, Checkmk, more consistent and accessible, improve error prevention and recovery, and ultimately make our users more efficient. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our users have a seamless and enjoyable experience when using our product. Here's what your journey with us will look like:

  • Simplify complexity: Break down intricate workflows and technical concepts into intuitive, user-friendly solutions. Ensure that complexity is handled behind the scenes, allowing users to efficiently achieve their goals with minimal friction.
  • UX/UI Design: Utilize usability best practices and design patterns to create user flows and wireframes based on user stories and research insights in close collaboration with product management, development, and our users.
  • Visual Design: Balance aesthetics with functionality to create clean, user-centered interfaces. Contribute to and evolve our design system to ensure visual consistency, accessibility, and scalability across the product.
  • Work close with our users: Gather feedback and insights from our users via surveys, interviews, usability tests, and casual conversations to gather deep insights into user behaviors, needs, and pain points. Translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product teams and the UX team to ensure that user research findings are integrated into the design process, driving data-informed decisions that enhance the user experience.


Your profile

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in a field related to UX/UI, HCI or media communications OR a certification such as CPUX-F OR equivalent experience
  • You have demonstrated experience of at least 4 years in UX/UI or product design, ideally in a data heavy B2B software sector
  • You are passionate about delivering great user experiences
  • You are a detail-oriented person with a hands-on mentality
  • You are eager to dive into complex problems in complex environments
  • You can confidently lead user interviews and usability tests in English, as a nice-to-have you can lead them in German as well
  • You know how to utilize design and whiteboarding tools, such as Figma, Balsamiq, and Figjam
  • You embrace AI tools to speed up your work without compromising on quality
  • You are excited to engage yourself in highly technical software domain and translate complex functionality into intuitive experiences
  • You are comfortable working in a Linux environment
  • You have experience contributing to and evolving design systems
  • Nice to have: You have worked in a SCRUM environment with Jira
  • Nice to have: You have worked with Limesurvey or similar online survey tools.
