Job description

UX/UI Designer – Figma, Product Design & User Experience

Position Type: Full-Time, Remote
Working Hours: U.S. Client Business Hours, with flexibility for sprint reviews and design handoffs

About the Role

We’re hiring a UX/UI Designer to create intuitive, visually polished, and user-friendly digital experiences across web and mobile products.

You’ll work across the full design lifecycle — from understanding user needs and mapping journeys to creating wireframes, interactive prototypes, high-fidelity interfaces, and scalable design systems.

You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to turn business requirements and user insights into digital experiences that are easy to use, accessible, and built for engagement.

This role is a strong fit if you combine UX problem-solving with strong UI design skills and enjoy taking products from early concepts through developer handoff and iteration.

What You’ll Own

UX Research & User Experience

  • Conduct user interviews, usability testing, surveys, and behavioral analysis
  • Identify user pain points, friction, and opportunities for improvement
  • Translate research into user personas, journeys, flows, and actionable design recommendations
  • Analyze user behavior using tools such as Hotjar, FullStory, and Google Analytics
  • Design experiences that balance user needs with product and business objectives

Wireframing & Prototyping

  • Create user flows, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes
  • Develop low-fidelity concepts through high-fidelity product designs
  • Work primarily in Figma, with experience in Adobe XD or Sketch also valuable
  • Rapidly iterate based on user testing, stakeholder feedback, and product requirements
  • Clearly present and explain design decisions to stakeholders

UI & Product Design

  • Design clean, modern interfaces for web and mobile products
  • Create responsive experiences across desktop, tablet, and mobile
  • Apply strong principles of:
    • Typography
    • Layout and spacing
    • Color
    • Visual hierarchy
    • Interaction design
  • Design intuitive onboarding, navigation, dashboards, workflows, and conversion paths

Design Systems

  • Build and maintain reusable components and scalable design systems
  • Establish consistent patterns for layouts, components, spacing, and interactions
  • Maintain style guides and design documentation
  • Ensure visual and functional consistency across products and features

Accessibility & Usability

  • Apply WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility best practices
  • Design with contrast, keyboard navigation, screen readers, and responsive behavior in mind
  • Identify usability issues before they reach development
  • Continuously improve experiences based on testing and product feedback

Developer Handoff & Collaboration

  • Partner closely with product managers and engineers throughout the development lifecycle
  • Prepare developer-ready specifications, assets, and documentation
  • Use tools such as Figma Dev Mode, Zeplin, or InVision
  • Review implemented features for design accuracy and consistency
  • Participate in sprint planning, design reviews, critiques, and Agile ceremonies

What Makes You a Strong Fit

  • You think about the user experience, not just how a screen looks
  • You have a strong eye for polished, modern UI
  • You can explain the reasoning behind your design decisions
  • You enjoy solving complex user and product problems
  • You’re comfortable receiving feedback and iterating quickly
  • You collaborate effectively with product and engineering teams
  • You care about consistency, usability, accessibility, and detail

Required Experience & Skills

  • 2+ years of professional UX/UI, Product Design, or Digital Product Design experience
  • Strong proficiency in Figma
  • Experience designing responsive web and/or mobile products
  • Strong understanding of:
    • UX principles
    • User flows
    • Interaction design
    • Usability
    • Responsive design
  • Experience creating:
    • Wireframes
    • Interactive prototypes
    • High-fidelity interfaces
    • Design systems
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating both UX thinking and UI execution
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with product managers, developers, and stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Ability to work remotely during U.S. client business hours

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing SaaS products, mobile apps, or e-commerce platforms
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS and frontend development concepts
  • Experience with user analytics and behavior tools such as Hotjar or FullStory
  • Experience conducting usability tests or user research
  • Knowledge of A/B testing and conversion optimization
  • Experience maintaining large or scalable design systems
  • Familiarity with Agile product development environments

What a Typical Day Looks Like

You may start by reviewing user feedback or analytics to identify UX improvements, then create wireframes or prototypes for an upcoming feature.

Throughout the day, you’ll collaborate with product managers and engineers, refine high-fidelity designs, update reusable components, review implemented features, and prepare designs for developer handoff.

You’ll continuously use feedback, testing, and product data to improve usability and create better experiences.

In short: you turn user needs and product requirements into intuitive, accessible, and visually engaging digital experiences.

Key Metrics for Success

  • Improved usability and user satisfaction
  • Reduced friction and user errors
  • Increased task completion and engagement
  • On-time delivery of design assets for development
  • Consistency between designs and implemented products
  • Strong adoption and scalability of design systems
  • Positive stakeholder and user feedback

Interview Process

  1. Initial Application Review
  2. Intro Video via Spark Hire
  3. Portfolio Review + Practical Design Task
  4. Client Interview
  5. Offer & Onboarding

What Happens After You Apply

Right after you apply, you’ll receive an email invitation from Spark Hire to record your Intro Video.

It’s a short, self-recorded video completed on your own time and is the final step needed to complete your application.

Instead of repeating your background across multiple screening calls, you get to introduce yourself once and show hiring teams how you communicate before the first interview. If there’s a strong fit, your first live conversation can focus on the role rather than starting from scratch.

Don’t overthink it. You can record your responses multiple times, and discarded takes are not shared.

Please keep an eye on both your inbox and spam folder for the Spark Hire invitation.
