Job description

Senior QA Automation Engineer (EdTech / AI)

Location: Remote

Company: Aqovia

Employment Type: Full-Time

Why Join Aqovia?

We don’t just build software; we engineer impact. Aqovia is an international technology firm and strategic incubator creating real-world value through AI, data, and bespoke software solutions. By joining us, you’ll work within an innovative ecosystem that shapes the industries of tomorrow.

The Role

We are looking for a Software QA Engineer to drive superior quality standards across our digital landscape, spanning Moodle environments, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and innovative AI-based educational tools.

In this automation-focused role, you will architect and scale robust testing frameworks for backend microservices, PHP/Laravel architectures, and modern EdTech interfaces. This position offers a direct trajectory toward technical leadership, principal engineering roles, and deep involvement in our CI/CD and observability strategies.

What You Will Do

  • Automation & Test Engineering: Build and maintain automation infrastructures for Laravel backends and Moodle integrations using Pest, PHPUnit, Playwright, or Cypress.

  • AI Validation: Formulate strategies to test AI-centric features, including grading engines, response latency, and personalized learning trajectories.

  • CI/CD Integration: Embed test coverage, quality gates, and automated release controls into GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.

  • Performance & Reliability: Support load testing to handle massive student traffic volumes, and use observability tools (Grafana, New Relic) to monitor system health.

  • Architecture Collaboration: Review technical designs and define testing approaches for LTI integrations, custom Moodle plugins, and external partner APIs.

What We Are Looking For

Technical Expertise:

  • Test Automation: Extensive background testing Laravel-based APIs and E2E frameworks (Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium).

  • LMS Architecture: Knowledge of Moodle's plugin ecosystem, hook mechanisms, and core testing patterns.

  • DevOps & Infrastructure: Solid experience setting up CI/CD pipelines, Docker, SQL databases, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).

  • Observability: Familiarity with OpenTelemetry, Grafana, or New Relic.

Desirable Qualities:

  • Experience in EdTech (SCORM, xAPI, LTI compliance) or testing non-deterministic LLM latency/AI prompts.

  • Metric-oriented mindset (DORA metrics, defect escape rates).

  • Familiarity with Contract Testing (Pact) and WCAG accessibility standards.

What We Offer

  • Meaningful Impact: Help build and secure high-traffic educational platforms that change lives.

  • Career Growth: Clear progression pathways toward technical leadership and principal-level engineering.

  • Collaborative Culture: A fast-moving, multi-regional team prioritizing teamwork, pairing, and transparent communication.

  • Competitive Package: A rewarding benefits package to be finalized during your initial talent consultation.

Equal Opportunity Employer

At Aqovia, we believe engineering excellence is driven by diverse viewpoints. We welcome candidates from all backgrounds and are committed to maintaining an inclusive culture where everyone feels welcome, valued, and empowered to excel.
