Job Role: Accountant

Compensation range: $2,000 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote, so you'll be able to work from home.

Who The Client Is: Our client is an established Australian residential construction business focused on delivering high-quality, custom-built homes. They work closely with clients throughout the entire building process, combining craftsmanship with strong project management and financial oversight. As the business continues to grow, they are looking to strengthen their financial operations by bringing in a reliable and detail-oriented accountant to support day-to-day and reporting functions.

Role Overview: We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to manage day-to-day financial operations and ensure accuracy across all accounting processes.

In this role, you will take ownership of accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll, and financial reporting. You will play a key role in maintaining clean financial records, supporting compliance requirements, and providing accurate financial insights to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Manage end-to-end accounts payable and receivable processes
• Handle account-related enquiries and maintain strong communication with internal and external stakeholders
• Perform daily bank reconciliations and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded
• Process payroll accurately and on time
• Maintain and update the Profit & Loss (P&L) and Balance Sheet
• Prepare and generate monthly financial reports
• Assist with the preparation of quarterly BAS statements
• Ensure financial data is accurate, up-to-date, and properly documented
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records
• Support continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles (preferably in construction or project-based industries)
• Strong understanding of:
• Accounts payable and receivable
• Bank reconciliations
• Payroll processing
• Financial reporting (P&L, Balance Sheet)
• Experience with Australian accounting practices, including BAS preparation
• Proficiency in accounting software, Xero or similar platforms
• Comfortable working with spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets) for reporting and reconciliation
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills
