Job description

Looking for Philippines-based candidates

Job Role: Front End / CMS Developer

Compensation range: $2,000 AUD - $3,000 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote, so you'll be able to work from home.

Who The Client Is: The client is a growing digital delivery and solutions-focused business working with a range of clients across web, e-commerce, and custom digital platforms. They specialize in building modern, scalable websites and applications using headless architectures, CMS-driven solutions, and custom front-end development.

Operating within a fast-paced agency environment, the team collaborates across design, development, and project management to deliver high-quality digital experiences. They value clean code, adaptability, and developers who can confidently work across multiple projects while maintaining strong attention to detail and performance.

Role Overview: We’re looking for a Mid-Level Front-End Developer who is confident in modern front-end development and comfortable working in a dynamic, agency-style environment.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for building responsive, high-quality user interfaces while collaborating closely with designers, back-end developers, and project teams. You’ll work across a mix of CMS-driven, headless, and custom builds, requiring both strong technical execution and the ability to adapt quickly across different projects and requirements.

This is ideal for someone who is hands-on, detail-oriented, and enjoys solving real-world problems across multiple client engagements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build responsive, high-quality front-end interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks and tools (React, TypeScript, etc.)
  • Translate UI/UX designs into clean, maintainable, and accessible front-end code
  • Develop and maintain CMS-driven and headless website implementations
  • Integrate front-end applications with APIs, back-end services, and third-party tools
  • Collaborate with designers, back-end developers, and project managers across multiple client projects
  • Ensure code quality, performance optimisation, and cross-browser compatibility
  • Contribute to improving development workflows, standards, and best practices
  • Manage multiple tasks and priorities within a fast-paced agency delivery environment

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of commercial development experience in a professional setting
  • Strong experience with front‑end technologies, including:
  •  ReactJS, modern JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript
  • HTML5, CSS3, LESS / SASS
  • JavaScript libraries, including jQuery (where required)
  • Responsive, cross‑browser, and accessible front‑end development
  • CSS frameworks such as Bootstrap and/or Foundation
  • Build tools such as Grunt / Gulp and/or modern bundlers (Webpack, Vite)
  • Package management using npm / yarn
  • Version control using Git
  • Experience in responsive, cross-platform, and cross-browser development, including accessibility compliance
  • Familiarity with service-based and thick-client architectures
  • Experience developing for CMS‑based websites, ideally including:
  • WordPress, Drupal, Umbraco (or similar platforms)
  • Strong understanding of modern development workflows and version control systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to prioritise tasks and adapt to changing delivery requirements
  • Experience working in a digital agency or hybrid agency/in‑house model

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with headless CMS architectures
  • Exposure to Shopify (including headless or custom integrations)
  • Experience integrating third-party APIs and services
  • Background working in a digital agency or client-facing environment
  • Experience collaborating with remote or offshore teams

Work Arrangement & Expectations:

This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.

To ensure alignment and transparency, successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Disclose any existing ongoing roles or client work
  • Reflect this engagement on their LinkedIn profile (clearly marked as “Independent Contractor”)
