Job description

Outside General Litigator

Superior Executive & Legal Recruiting is actively recruiting for a highly professional and experienced civil litigator to assist our client with a variety of employment matters. This professional needs to be California licensed and in good standing. The work will be primarily defense-side; however, this professional should have familiarity and experience with plaintiff-side as well, having performed significant general counsel responsibilities in a previous role. There is no billing requirement, but this professional should be comfortable billing as any other litigator would. This professional needs to possess excellent communication skills—including strong legal writing—know how to strategize effectively and be comfortable in all aspects of the litigation process, including arbitrations and mediations.

Key Responsibilities:
Represent the client in litigated matters in state and federal courts.
Supervise and manage all aspects of the legal department, including case strategy, motions and briefs, discovery, trial preparation, staffing, budgets and invoices, etc.

Basic Qualifications:
-Minimum of ten (10) years of general civil litigation experience in a law firm; experience with California law required.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills; superior drafting, analytical, and negotiating skills.
-Ability to identify, analyze, and mitigate legal risks; assess complex legal issues; and devise practical strategies and solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience holding positions of General Counsel or Assistant General Counsel 
-Solo practitioner

Required Education:
-JD degree or equivalent from an accredited law school
-Admission to the California State Bar in good standing
