The design and configuration work of PP — defining production planning strategies, configuring MRP parameters, designing capacity leveling processes, and integrating PP with MM for component availability and QM for quality inspection — is advisory and documentation-intensive and can be conducted remotely. The on-site presence that remains real in SAP PP implementations is the go-live support phase, where senior consultants may need to be present at manufacturing facilities for system cutover and user acceptance testing. Ongoing remote support and optimization engagements are fully remote-compatible.
