AvonRisk is the nation’s leading specialty risk manager for self-insured organizations, uniting respected regional leaders in workers’ compensation, liability, managed care, and risk management across 32 states. With nearly 700 professionals and brands including Intercare, InterMed, George Hills, and AS&G Claims Administration, we’re a people-focused, operations-driven organization that prioritizes reasonable caseloads, strong training, collaborative teams, and expert support.

At AvonRisk, you’re part of a team that values good judgment, curiosity, and accountability, and gives you the support to succeed.

Role Summary

We are seeking a hands-on, highly analytical Compensation Consultant who is equally data-driven and people-centered. This contract role will design, evaluate, and maintain AvonRisk’s compensation and job architecture programs, drawing on deep experience conducting nationwide compensation analyses and building job frameworks. You will serve as a trusted advisor to HR, recruiting, and business leaders, delivering competitive, compliant, and equitable pay practices with clear communication and a strong service mindset.

This position is fully remote with an expected 4-6 month contact.  The position will report to the Chief People Officer (CPO).

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct nationwide compensation analyses, including market pricing, geographic differentials, and pay range development for roles across multiple states and brands.

• Design, build, and maintain job architecture, including job families, career levels, leveling criteria, job titles, and job code structures.

• Develop and update salary structures, pay grades, and ranges, and recommend annual structure adjustments based on market movement.

• Evaluate and benchmark positions using survey data and recognized job evaluation methodologies.

• Review internal equity and pay compression, and provide recommendations for offers, promotions, and market adjustments.

• Advise recruiting and hiring managers on compensation for new hires, internal mobility, and competitive offers.

• Build and maintain advanced Excel models, dashboards, and analyses to support compensation decisions, budgeting, and workforce planning.

• Support annual compensation cycles (merit, market adjustments) through detailed modeling, scenario analysis, and execution.

• Support mergers, acquisitions, and organizational changes through compensation analysis, job mapping, integration planning, and cost modeling.

• Conduct pay equity analyses and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local pay laws, including FLSA and pay transparency requirements.

• Create clear documentation, reporting, and presentations that communicate compensation findings and recommendations to leadership.

• Maintain job and compensation data in HRIS and related systems to ensure accuracy and consistency.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in a similar compensation consulting or compensation analyst role.

• Demonstrated experience conducting nationwide compensation analyses across multiple geographic markets.

• Demonstrated experience building or redesigning job architecture, including job families, leveling, and pay structures.

• Working knowledge of compensation survey sources and market pricing methodologies.

• Advanced to expert-level Excel skills, including complex modeling, scenario analysis, and data visualization.

• Strong analytical and financial acumen with the ability to balance data-driven decisions and human impact.

• Demonstrated ability to serve as an empathetic, trusted advisor with strong communication and relationship-building skills.

• Ability to operate as a hands-on, execution-focused contributor in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects independently while remote.

• Experience with Paylocity and/or SAP SuccessFactors a plus but not required.

• Experience in insurance, claims administration, third-party administration (TPA), or other professional services a plus.
