About the role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Production Engineer (IC4) to join the SADA contractor program in supporting critical customer engagement. This role is ideal for an advanced engineering professional capable of leading complex OS modernizations, packaging migrations, and infrastructure hardening initiatives, while simultaneously executing hands-on runbooks, automation, and service onboarding. The successful candidate will work closely with the CloudTech SRE team, internal engineering teams, and customer stakeholders to ensure project success from initial definition through final delivery. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Successfully migrating and updating configurations across ~1,700 systems/VMs from RHEL7 to EL8/9. 

• Developing and executing automated runbooks and building RPM packages to replace legacy configurations. 

• Transitioning monitoring infrastructure to a modern stack (Chronosphere, Prometheus, Grafana) and managing Splunk integrations. 

• Providing Tier-2 operational support and incident response under a follow-the-sun model. 

• Assisting application developers with architectural support and troubleshooting during cloud migration phases. 

What we’re looking for:

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong hands-on experience in Python 

• Lead and execute OS modernization and large-scale packaging migrations (RHEL7 → EL8/9, Chef → CINC) across approximately 1,700 systems and virtual machines. 

• Triage, own, and resolve complex S-bugs. 

• Harden CI/CD pipelines, observability frameworks, and rollout/rollback mechanisms specifically tailored for legacy-to-modern infrastructure transitions. 

• Partner closely with CloudTech SRE to provide "follow-the-sun" tier-2 support 

• Build, maintain, and configure RPMs, as well as execute operational runbooks for OS upgrades and configuration management changes. 

• Onboard services to newly established monitoring and logging stacks, and handle hands-on incident response and break/fix operations on existing platforms. 

• Automate repetitive operations and thoroughly document technical procedures.
• Proven experience planning and executing logging and  monitoring tools. 
• Experience enabling, supporting, and guiding developers during cloud cutovers and component migrations to cloud environments. 
• Perl scripting experience 

The base salary range for this position is typically $130,000 to $150,000 with additional bonus and benefits available. However, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, including experience and location, and we will also consider candidates outside of this range as necessary.
