Job description

This is a remote position.

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Product Information Management (PIM) engineering team as a key thought leader and innovator. In this role, you will drive the architectural design and hands-on development of API-first, cloud-ready software to modernize our enterprise product catalog ecosystem across our global retail brands. You will build and scale high-throughput, event-driven microservices that seamlessly synchronize product taxonomy, merchandising attributes, digital assets, and item lifecycles between Akeneo PIM, upstream ERP/Digital Content systems, and downstream real-time consumers/E-commerce engines. Operating under Agile principles, you will translate complex business requirements into robust backend systems and databases, delivering frequent, high-impact releases that power global retail commerce.

RESPONSIBILITIES

●       Support PIM Modernization & Platform Evolution: Support and evolve the Akeneo PIM (SaaS/Enterprise) platform as our live single system of record, maintaining modern cloud-native architectures that replaced legacy workflows (Oracle ATG/BCC, ItemDB, PubDB, and legacy batch jobs).

●       Architect Event-Driven Integrations: Design, develop, and maintain resilient microservices and stream-processing pipelines using Apache Kafka, schema registries, and modern backend frameworks (Java/Spring Boot, Node.js, or Go) to broadcast core catalog events.

●       Engineer Complex Data Models: Implement scalable product hierarchy models, variant structures (CSC/SKU levels), reference entities, category mappings, and delta-calculation engines for real-time and batch synchronization.

●       Orchestrate Cross-System Connections: Build high-reliability connectors and APIs integrating PIM with upstream systems (Intellimas, Creative Force / DAM, ItemDB) and downstream consumers (Product Fulcrum, Constructor/Bloomreach Search, E-commerce storefronts).

●       Optimize Production Stability: Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain the live Akeneo PIM platform to ensure 24/7 availability and minimal downtime across global retail brands.

●       Perform Fine-Tuning & Performance Optimization: Continuously optimize API response times, database query performance, and payload processing within Akeneo to handle rapidly growing catalog data.

●       Drive Continuous Feature Enhancements: Collaborate with business stakeholders to design and deploy incremental features, custom attributes, and localized catalog workflows in the live system.

●       Govern Data Integrity & Upgrades: Partner with the Akeneo SaaS/Enterprise support teams to plan, test, and execute seamless platform upgrades and patches while maintaining data accuracy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

●      Strong proficiency in building robust, secure microservices and API architectures (RESTful, SOAP) using Java, Spring frameworks (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud), Node.js / TypeScript, Go, or Python.

●      Deep hands-on experience with distributed streaming platforms and message-oriented middleware. Expert knowledge of the publisher/subscriber model, including Apache Kafka (topic architecture, consumer groups, partition strategies, schema registry, event headers), RabbitMQ, and IBM MQ.

●      Solid experience designing and optimizing relational, NoSQL, and memory-cached databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, CloudSQL, MongoDB, Redis). Expert in query optimization tailored for high-volume catalog, SKU, and enterprise datasets.

●      Practical experience deploying, managing, and orchestrating workloads in agile, cloud-native environments across GCP, AWS, or Azure. Proficient with Kubernetes (GKE), Docker, and enterprise CI/CD automation tools (ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, Bamboo).

●      Strong foundational understanding of modern security concepts, including authentication protocols, Single Sign-On (SSO), and secure data transmission.

Nice to have:

●       Experience working with enterprise Product Information Management (PIM) and catalog management solutions such as Akeneo.

●       Background in data migration strategies (delta loads, reconciliation scripts, and dual-entry cutover planning)

●      Knowledge in API security Gateway Frameworks/ concepts

●      Experience in application serves such as weblogic, tomcat etc

●      Working knowledge of Gradle
