Job description

Looking for Philippines-based candidates

Job Role: Head of Growth

Compensation range: $3,000 AUD – $4,000 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule:         This is an outcomes-focused role with flexibility in how working hours are structured. Regular overlap with Australian business hours is required to ensure effective collaboration with the Founder and wider team.

Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote so you'll be able to work from home.

Who The Client Is: Our client is an Australian education business creating practical resources and planning solutions for teachers. Its products are designed to help educators save time, stay organised, and deliver engaging learning experiences.

Role Overview: We are looking for a Head of Growth to lead commercial growth as the business rebuilds and expands its digital platform. You'll own growth strategy across customer acquisition, activation, monetisation, retention, reactivation and community, with a key focus on restoring sustainable recurring subscription growth.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who combines commercial thinking with strong analytical skills. You’ll be expected to test ideas, use data to identify what works, and build a scalable marketing function and team.

We are looking for someone who is Highly resourceful and execution-focused. The successful candidate may execute work personally or leverage internal and external resources, but remains accountable for delivering work efficiently and to the required standard. They should be able to manage routine marketing execution without relying on the founder to source, manage or drive the work.

This is a build role, not a maintenance role. You won’t be stepping into an established marketing function or proven growth engine, you’ll have the autonomy and responsibility to build, shape and lead it.

While there is no dedicated marketing team to inherit, you won't be working in isolation. You'll have direct access to existing business resources including fractional CTO/development, CFO and operational support, as well as an established educational content team. As growth opportunities are identified and proven, you'll be expected to recommend and build the additional capability required to scale them.

Key Responsibilities:

Growth & Revenue

  • Own the growth strategy with a focus on increasing recurring subscription revenue.
  • Identify opportunities to improve acquisition, conversion, retention, and revenue.
  • Develop and test new growth channels, strategies, and initiatives.

Growth Channels & Experimentation

  • Own paid acquisition strategy and performance.
  • Manage and optimise paid marketing campaigns.
  • Test messaging, offers, creative, and campaigns to improve results.

Lifecycle, Retention & Reactivation

  • Own lifecycle marketing across acquisition, activation, engagement, retention and reactivation.
  • Develop and optimise segmentation, campaigns and automations to improve conversion, customer value and retention.
  • Identify and test opportunities to reactivate former customers and convert existing free audiences.
  • Continuously analyse lifecycle performance and improve the customer journey.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Establish reporting for key growth and marketing metrics.
  • Analyse acquisition, conversion, subscription revenue, and retention data.
  • Turn data into clear insights and growth recommendations.
  • Work directly with the CTO/development team to improve tracking and measurement while continuing to test and execute growth initiatives.

Team Leadership

  • Build and structure the marketing function from the ground up.
  • Build and lead a growth/marketing team as the function develops.
  • Set priorities, processes, and performance expectations.

Community & Advocacy

  • Develop and test strategies to strengthen customer connection, advocacy, referrals, retention and organic growth.
  • Build community as a commercial growth asset rather than focusing solely on follower counts or surface-level engagement.

Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressive growth/marketing experience, ideally including senior ownership of commercial or revenue growth within a digital subscription or recurring-revenue business.
  • ActiveCampaign experience is highly desirable, along with strong experience using an equivalent lifecycle marketing or CRM platform.
  • Strong working knowledge of analytics, advertising and marketing platforms such as GA4, Meta, Google and Canva, including the ability to manage appropriate access and permissions for team members and specialists.
  • Comfortable creating or adapting basic marketing creative in Canva for rapid testing, while able to brief and manage specialist creative resources when higher-quality production is required.
  • Demonstrated experience with subscriptions, memberships, SaaS, digital products or another recurring-revenue business model.
  • Experience with education, membership or highly engaged consumer/professional communities would be advantageous.
  • Experience developing growth strategies across customer acquisition, conversion, retention, and recurring revenue.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Hands-on experience with paid acquisition and digital marketing.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience building or growing an engaged customer community that contributed to outcomes such as advocacy, referrals, retention or organic growth would be highly desirable.

What We’re Looking For

  • Someone who has owned commercial growth, not just individual marketing channels.
  • Someone who retains ownership of getting it done and keeps momentum.
  • A leader who can build and develop a team, not just work as an individual contributor.
  • Someone analytical and commercially minded who enjoys testing and learning.
  • Someone who takes ownership and accountability for measurable outcomes while continuously improving measurement, testing new approaches, and executing initiatives.

Work Arrangement & Expectations:

This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.

To ensure alignment and transparency, successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Disclose any existing ongoing roles or client work
  • Reflect this engagement on their LinkedIn profile (clearly marked as “Independent Contractor”)
