Team Lead - State Filings (Property and Casualty Insurance)

The State Filings Lead plays a critical role in ensuring compliance within the insurance regulatory system across all 50 states, where biBerk and THREE by Berkshire Hathaway provide small business insurance. This role involves collaborating with various state insurance departments to maintain compliance with state-specific laws and regulations, contributing to external reporting of insurance data, and partnering with internal IT teams to confirm the smooth functioning of company systems. The State Filings Lead will serve as a liaison to ensure that product documents, filings, and statutory data reporting are aligned with state requirements.

Job Responsibilities

• Team lead working on one or more of the below initiatives.
• Mentor, coach, and train filing analysts.
• Conduct research, analysis, and provide guidance on product compliance with state insurance laws to management.
• Conduct filing activity in SERFF.
• Respond to regulatory objections by communicating with state insurance departments and providing required follow-ups.
• Inform Product and Underwriting teams of changes in forms and other compliance issues that impact product offerings.
• Collaborate with Compliance teams to ensure customer assessments and surcharges remain current across systems.
• Oversee annual compliance filings (e.g., GA Schedule Mod) and ensure completion in SERFF.
• Coordinate with Product and/or Underwriting teams on workers’ compensation (WC) updates stemming from bureau or NCCI filing changes.
• Track ISO changes for Businessowners policies, coordinate implementation upon product owner approval.
• Perform quality control (QC) checks 
• Manage filings related to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and establish WC Bureau accounts as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and Word.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with an aptitude for managing multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines.
• Strong analytical and math skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent of combined education and experience
• 3+ years of state product filings experience in the P&C industry 
• Position may be remote
• Travel 1 to 2 times per year as required

In accordance with pay transparency laws and regulations, the following good faith compensation range estimate is being provided. The salary range for this position is $55,000- $75,000 per year. Final compensation will be based on candidate qualifications, geographic location, and other considerations permitted by law.
