Job description

At Macmillan Learning, we're committed to driving innovation that transforms education. We seek team members who thrive on pushing boundaries, envisioning future possibilities, and building solutions that make a lasting impact. Whether you're a Pioneer shaping bold new ideas, a Builder turning possibilities into reality, or a Stabilizer optimizing for success, you'll play a vital role in advancing our mission. If you're excited by the prospect of testing new technologies, implementing transformative strategies, and thriving in a fast-paced, innovative environment, we'd love to hear from you!

As a Sales Development & Growth Representative, you'll own and close smaller-revenue opportunities within our High School sales division, freeing up senior reps to focus on our largest and most complex accounts. You'll build creative, multi-channel outreach that keeps prospects engaged, and you'll use AI tools and modern sales technology to find new opportunities and sharpen your approach. This role sits at the intersection of sales execution and experimentation: you'll partner closely with senior sales reps, marketing, and sales operations, and you'll have real latitude to test new tactics and find what works.

We know some talented people hesitate to apply when they don't check every box on a list. If this role has you excited and you believe you could do the work well, we want to hear from you, even if your path here doesn't match every requirement exactly. We're looking for people who care about our mission and bring their own perspective to the table. Different backgrounds, skills, and ways of working make us better at what we do. If this opportunity speaks to you, tell us how your experience and abilities could add value here. We want Macmillan Learning to be a place where everyone can do their best work and where different viewpoints are genuinely welcome, so if you're a qualified candidate, we hope you'll apply. We're looking forward to learning what you'd bring to the team.

What You'll Do

  • You'll own and close sales opportunities under our small-deal threshold, from qualification through final execution
  • You'll craft and run personalized, multi-channel outreach campaigns (email, video, phone, and physical mail) to re-engage prospects and keep open deals moving
  • You'll keep every account active, maintaining regular outreach so no relationship goes cold
  • You'll partner with senior sales reps and marketing to align your outreach with broader sales goals
  • You'll use generative AI and modern sales tools to speed up research, messaging, and prospecting
  • You'll uncover new pipeline opportunities using data sources like government spend data and district overlays
  • You'll test new outbound tactics, from personalized video to automated cadences, to find what scales
  • You'll keep Salesforce data clean and accurate, and run regular pipeline reviews to catch deals at risk
  • You'll direct contractor support as needed for specialized outreach or administrative work

What You'll Bring

  • A bachelor's degree
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication, with a knack for writing persuasive, engaging sales messaging
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset, comfortable spotting gaps and proposing fixes
  • Comfort working with data in a CRM, including tracking trends and maintaining accurate metrics
  • The ability to manage your own workload independently, prioritize across deals, and direct contractor tasks when needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience managing or closing sales, ideally in K-12 education, publishing, SaaS, or a related field
  • Experience using AI tools (such as ChatGPT or Claude) and sales stack applications like Salesforce, Groove or Outreach, Vidyard, or Google Suite

Salary Range

$55,000-$65,000
