Job description

Reporting to the Architecture and Data Strategy Tribe Lead, the Enterprise and Business Architecture Practice Lead is a predominantly customer-facing role. Approximately 90% of the role will focus on leading and delivering customer projects across Enterprise Architecture, Business Architecture and Business Analysis.

The role translates business strategy, operating-model needs and customer requirements into clear architectures, capability models, value streams, requirements, roadmaps, governance arrangements and transition plans. The role works with Solution, Data and Technical Architecture colleagues where broader multidisciplinary input is required.

Approximately 10% of the role will be allocated to delegated line management and proportionate professional-practice support for a small, agreed group of Enterprise Architects, Business Architects and Business Analysts. This will focus on scheduled one-to-ones, formal objectives and reviews, coaching and development, essential people support, evidence-based feedback and limited knowledge sharing.

The role operates within the strategy, workforce plans, standards and priorities established by the Architecture and Data Strategy Tribe Lead. Wider capability ownership remains with the Tribe Lead.

Measures of Success

  • Quality, timeliness and customer outcomes of assigned project delivery.
  • Effective leadership of customer engagements and production of clear, usable architecture and analysis outputs.
  • Timely completion of essential line-management activities and effective support through regular feedback, development discussions and coaching for assigned team members.
  • Prompt escalation of material people, capacity, skills or delivery risks.
  • Proportionate contribution to knowledge sharing, reusable artefacts and selected pre-sales activity.

Not directly accountable for: overall tribe engagement, workforce planning, capability growth, architecture-wide standards, recruitment strategy or the total commercial pipeline.

  • Lead business architecture activities, including business capability modelling, value-stream analysis, operating-model design and organisational impact assessment.
  • Lead and contribute to business analysis activities, including stakeholder analysis, requirements definition, process analysis, traceability and acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure alignment between Enterprise Architecture, Business Architecture and Business Analysis outputs.
  • Establish proportionate governance and operating structures to manage architectural, business and delivery risk.
  • Develop prioritised roadmaps and backlogs for transformation and modernisation, coordinating with customer stakeholders and delivery colleagues.

  • Provide assurance, constructive challenge and decision support to customers and delivery teams.
  • Coordinate with Solution, Data and Technical Architecture colleagues where broader multidisciplinary input is required.

  • Complete formal objective-setting, performance and development reviews in accordance with Envitia processes.
