The Director/Senior Director, Business Development will play a key role in driving BioAgilytix’s continued growth across Massachusetts, with a primary focus on the Boston/Cambridge biopharma market. This highly visible, client-facing role is responsible for developing new business, expanding strategic client relationships, and building a strong pipeline of opportunities across our large molecule bioanalytical services portfolio.

The successful candidate will bring strong knowledge of the bioanalytical services market, an established understanding of the biopharma landscape, and a demonstrated ability to identify, develop, negotiate, and close complex business opportunities. Working closely with scientific leadership, operations, marketing, and senior management, this individual will translate client needs into opportunities that leverage BioAgilytix’s scientific capabilities and expertise.

We are looking for an experienced business development professional who can build credibility with scientific and business leaders, develop lasting client partnerships, and independently drive opportunities from initial engagement through close.


Essential Responsibilities:
  • Meets or exceeds revenue target for Massachusetts territories – In Year Revenue, Pipeline and Backlog Targets
  • Identifies key decision-makers within targeted organizations to establish long-term positive relationships that lead to new signed contracts
  • Actively manages entire sales life cycle through project engagement and subsequent customer maintenance with a strong focus on personalized service
  • Prospects, identifies, qualify, and prioritize new business leads according to strategic fit customer’s current needs
  • Drive prospective customers to participate in capabilities presentations
  • Develop and maintain a full business pipeline of prospective clients and assume all territory management in an assigned geographic region
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting of pipeline, account plans, and territory management activities as required
  • Maintain knowledge of competitor’s offerings
  • Serve as a mentor for other team members in support of their goals
  • Identify, lead, and/or actively engage in strategic projects for global business development and process improvements

  • These are skills needed to be successful:
  • Full knowledge of bioanalytical services and market
  • Proven track record in closing deals and driving significant top line revenue
  • Ability to build relationships through professional sales and interpersonal skills with a disciplined and organized approach
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial work ethic
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people in a professional manner, face to face, on the telephone and in writing
  • Strong interpersonal skills, resulting in excellent rapport with colleagues; proven success in initiating, promoting, and maintaining communication among teams
  • Excellent presentation and negotiating skills
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to travel domestically 

  • Minimum Preferred Qualifications for Director: Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field (molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, biotechnology), business administration, or related field
  • Not less than five (5) years’ experience in business development, account management, or a related field, with a strong focus on supporting a CRO, CMO, or drug development organization.
  • Established sales experience in life science industry and/or working knowledge of small & large molecule bioanalytical services and market

  • Minimum Preferred Qualifications for Sr. Director: Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field (molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, biotechnology), business administration, or related field
  • Not less than eight (8) years’ experience in business development, account management, or a related field, with a strong focus on supporting a CRO, CMO, or drug development organization.
  • Established sales experience in life science industry and/or working knowledge of small & large molecule bioanalytical services and market

  • Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
  • This is a full-time position
  • Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours as published in the BioAgilytix Employee Handbook
  • Frequent domestic travel
