The foundation of our success is our people, and nurturing a culture of belonging for all our colleagues is central to our journey as a global business.

Role Purpose:

We're looking for a Modern Workplace Engineer to join our team in Bucharest.

This role will focus primarily on Exchange & Collaboration services and areas such as Exchange Online, mail flow, mailbox administration, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, collaboration governance, service health, troubleshooting and change delivery.

The purpose of the role is to strengthen Modern Workplace operational capability by bringing deeper technical ownership, investigation and delivery across either messaging and collaboration platforms, or endpoint, device and virtual desktop services.

While your primary expertise will be in Exchange & Collaboration services, you'll also provide support and cross-coverage across Intune, Endpoint Management and Azure Virtual when required.

The successful candidate is not expected to be a specialist in every Modern Workplace technology from day one; however, they should bring credible technical depth in at least one of the above areas, with enough cross-platform awareness to support wider Modern Workplace operations, governance, incident response, documentation, automation and approved change delivery in a regulated global environment.

Role Responsibilities:

Modern Workplace technical ownership & specialist delivery

  • Provide specialist technical engineering for Exchange & Collaboration services.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex Modern Workplace incidents, service issues and technical investigations, performing root-cause analysis and driving permanent fixes.
  • Translate business, operational and security requirements into scalable, supportable and well-documented platform improvements.

Identity, access & secure platform controls

  • Administer and support Microsoft Entra ID controls relevant to Modern Workplace services, including user access, group-based access models, authentication methods and Conditional Access dependencies.
  • Investigate sign-in, MFA, Conditional Access, device compliance and access-related issues, gathering evidence and working with Security Operations where escalation or control review is required.

Governance, security & compliance

  • Implement and maintain governance controls across Microsoft 365 workloads, including secure sharing, guest access, ownership, lifecycle, retention-aligned controls and permission hygiene.
  • Partner with Security, Risk, Compliance and support teams to ensure Modern Workplace services remain secure, supportable and aligned to regulatory expectations.

Automation, documentation & operational maturity

  • Build and maintain automation using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, Power Automate or approved tooling to improve provisioning, reporting, remediation and repeatable operational processes.
  • Identify recurring incidents, manual processes, documentation gaps and service risks, then propose practical improvements that increase reliability and reduce dependency on individual knowledge.
  • Use evidence, logs, service data and stakeholder feedback to improve service quality, troubleshooting outcomes and operational readiness.

Service Operations, Documentation & Change Readiness

  • Act as the technical escalation point for complex incidents and problems affecting endpoint, identity, access and secure end-user computing platforms, undertaking root-cause analysis and implementing permanent fixes.
  • Maintain awareness of the wider Modern Workplace estate and provide practical cross-cover across adjacent services to reduce key-person dependency.

Exchange, messaging & collaboration specialism

  • Administer, engineer and improve Exchange Online and any remaining hybrid dependencies to ensure reliable, secure and compliant messaging services.
  • Own and support mail flow configuration, mailbox administration, transport rules, connectors, routing controls, client access issues and messaging service health.
  • Support email security, hygiene and compliance controls including Microsoft Defender for Office 365, Proofpoint, Purview retention, DLP, archive, eDiscovery and legal hold readiness where applicable.
  • Engineer and improve Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online and OneDrive services.
  • Support migrations from legacy file shares or collaboration tools into governed Microsoft 365 collaboration structures.

Microsoft roadmap, release readiness & licensing input

  • Monitor relevant Microsoft 365 roadmap, Message Center and release information for changes affecting Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune, Entra ID, Windows and Azure Virtual Desktop services.
  • Provide technical input into Microsoft 365 licence usage, service-plan entitlement, optimisation and renewal discussions where Modern Workplace services are affected.

What We’re Looking For:

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience operating in a Modern Workplace, Microsoft 365, EUC, endpoint, collaboration or infrastructure engineering role, with the ability to take ownership of technical issues beyond routine administration.
  • Credible technical depth in Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online and OneDrive with understanding of Microsoft Intune, Windows endpoint management, Autopilot and Azure Virtual Desktop.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration, including service health, configuration management, troubleshooting, user impact assessment and operational support across enterprise environments.
  • Experience investigating complex incidents, service issues and escalations, including gathering evidence from logs, identifying root cause, documenting findings and implementing sustainable fixes.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID concepts and controls, including users, groups, authentication methods, MFA, Conditional Access dependencies and access-related troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of security, governance and compliance considerations across Modern Workplace services, including least privilege, secure collaboration, audit readiness, change control and operational risk.
  • Ability to plan, test, document and deliver approved technical changes safely, with consideration for user experience, service resilience, rollback and support readiness.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to Service Desk teams, senior engineers, security stakeholders and non-technical business users.
  • Ability to balance technical expertise with business insight, ensuring data initiatives drive tangible value.
  • Proven delivery focus, with the ability to implement structured governance, define metrics, and track outcomes.
  • Resilience and adaptability, with the ability to navigate a traditional environment and respond effectively to change.
  • High level of professional integrity and confidentiality, with a strong commitment to ethical data practices.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, application packaging/deployment, compliance policies, update rings, device configuration profiles or endpoint security baselines.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Virtual Desktop or Windows 365, including image validation, host pool support, FSLogix/profile troubleshooting, session performance and application availability.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Defender for Office 365, Defender for Endpoint, Purview, DLP, retention, sensitivity labelling, eDiscovery, legal hold or other security and compliance controls.
  • Practical automation experience using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, Power Automate, REST APIs or approved scripting/tooling to improve provisioning, reporting and remediation activity.
  • Experience working in a regulated, security-conscious or audit-focused environment, ideally with exposure to ITIL-aligned incident, problem and change management processes.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 roadmap readiness, service change impact assessment, licence/service-plan reviews or operational adoption of new Microsoft capabilities.

Education / Qualifications:

  • Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (MS-900), ITIL Foundation, Microsoft Endpoint Administrator Associate, or equivalent practical experience would be beneficial.
  • Degree-level education or equivalent practical experience in IT, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Location and Contract Type:

This is a full-time, permanent position based in Romania.
