Role Purpose:

We are looking for a QA Automation Engineer to lead automated testing practices within our Romania technology hub. This is a hands-on technical role focused on test design, automation development, and quality assurance across multiple software delivery streams. Working nearshore in a collaborative agile team, the QA Automation Engineer will own automated test coverage across UI, API, and non-functional layers, using a C# / Playwright-based framework.

The role requires genuine technical depth — writing clean, maintainable test code, validating system integrations, and ensuring confidence in quality across each sprint. This person will work closely with QA Leads, developers, and product stakeholders to embed quality throughout the SDLC, with a particular focus on end-to-end holistic test design spanning multiple components and integration boundaries.

Role Responsibilities:

End-to-End Test Design & System Thinking

  • Design holistic e2e test strategies spanning multiple components, services, and integration points — not just isolated feature tests.
  • Comprehension of the business and its applications to enable both functional and integration testing
  • Gather requirements and identify suitable mapped test cases for execution
  • Employ techniques to determine the value of test cases which allows prioritisation categorisation
  • Identify functional test cases viable for regression test packs
  • Provide detailed analysis for each test cycle of the test output and verify the expected requirement and acceptance criteria
  • Facilitate peer reviews with cross-functional team members

Planning & Estimating

  • Be part of and embrace Sprint planning to ensure adequate estimations and meet deadline deliveries
  • Highlight gaps or ambiguous requirements to enable efficient planning and test estimations
  • Provide complete task activity estimations for assigned Sprint stories
  • Develop appropriate end-2-end test plans to facilitate execution and reporting

Test Execution & Automation

  • Be part of and embrace Sprint planning to ensure adequate estimations and meet deadline deliveries
  • Highlight gaps or ambiguous requirements to enable efficient planning and test estimations
  • Provide complete task activity estimations for assigned Sprint stories
  • Develop appropriate end-2-end test plans to facilitate execution and reporting

Communication & Reporting

  • Take part in all Scrum activities, including Sprint Planning, refinement sessions, stand-ups and retrospectives
  • Progress reporting to peers, Scrum team, QA Lead/Manager and stakeholders
  • Ensure task activities are transparent
  • Escalate blockers impeding task progression or completion of project deliver
  • Collaborate with Development, IT or DevOps 

Working to targets

  • Achieve activity targets set during Sprint Planning and/or Head of QA

What We’re Looking For:

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Proven hands-on QA / SDET experience in an agile software delivery environment
  • Practical experience in test planning, test case design and test progress reporting
  • Test Management & Defect Tracking: Azure DevOps, TestRail, Jira
  • Test Automation Framework: Playwright + C# (NUnit)
  • API Testing: Postman (collections, Newman, monitors)
  • Performance Testing: K6, Artillery, LoadRunner
  • Email / SMTP Testing: SMTP integration, Mailhog, Mailosaur
  • BDD: SpecFlow / Cucumber, Gherkin (Given/When/Then)
  • Data-Driven Testing: Parameterised test suites, test data factories
  • Containerisation: Docker, Kubernetes (kubectl, pod inspection)
  • Event-Driven Testing: Kafka, Azure Service Bus, RabbitMQ
  • Observability & Logging: Azure Application Insights, KQL queries
  • CI/CD: Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions
  • Agentic engineering practices

Desirable Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience working for a financial institution
  • Experience defining and executing non-functional tests cases using standard testing techniques.

Education / Qualifications:

  • Degree educated with a Computer Science or equivalent degree
  • ISTQB/ISEB Foundation certifications or equivalent (desirable)
