Job description

St John of God Health Care

Join a values-driven healthcare organisation dedicated to delivering exceptional care and service. We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Accounts Receivable Officer to provide an efficient billing and receivables service while supporting the organisation's mission and commitment to excellence.

The position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 38 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage billing and accounts receivable activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely processing.

  • Raise, process, and reconcile charges, payments, refunds, journals, and credit notes across multiple payment channels.

  • Monitor and follow up outstanding accounts in line with organisational policies and procedures.

  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, rejections, queries, errors, and exceptions promptly and accurately.

  • Liaise with health funds, hospital staff, and external stakeholders to maintain accurate billing information and maximise revenue outcomes.

  • Ensure billing practices comply with contractual agreements, organisational requirements, and relevant policies.

  • Support audits, system enhancements, process improvements, and the implementation of new billing and receivables processes.

  • Deliver high-quality customer service while collaborating with team members to meet service levels and business objectives.

Your skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you will bring previous accounts receivable and administrative experience, supported by strong communication and interpersonal skills. You will be confident liaising with patients, members of the public, external stakeholders, and colleagues at all levels, and have excellent computer skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality work.

You will be highly organised, able to prioritise competing tasks, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment while working collaboratively as part of a team. An understanding of quality improvement principles, a commitment to ongoing professional development, and experience or knowledge of the private health sector, particularly health funding and contracts, will be highly regarded.

  • Salary: $71,352 to $77,022 per annum plus 12% superannuation
