Job Summary

Summary: Responsible for serving as an advanced technical resource within the Sterile Processing Department. Performs complex reprocessing activities and supports staff development, quality assurance, troubleshooting, and departmental improvement initiatives to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and operational excellence.

Essential Functions:
-Performs all responsibilities of the Sterile Processing Technician I and II roles.
-Independently reprocesses complex surgical instrumentation, specialty devices, and advanced procedure sets in accordance with manufacturer's Instructions for Use (IFU) and departmental standards.
-Serves as a preceptor and technical resource for staff, providing training and support related to sterile processing practices and instrumentation.
-Performs sterilization/HLD monitoring, equipment testing, and quality assurance activities in accordance with departmental procedures and regulatory requirements.
-Assists in identifying and resolving processing discrepancies, equipment issues, and quality concerns.
-Participates in departmental projects, process improvement initiatives, and implementation of new instrumentation, equipment, and technologies
-Supports compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, infection prevention, and departmental standards.

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Licenses and Credentials: Certified Registered Central Service Technician [CRCST] - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or C.S.P.D.T - Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician - Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. required; Certified Instrument Specialist [CIS] - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) preferred; Certified Endoscope Reprocessor [CER] - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) preferred

Experience: Sterile Processing Experience 2-3 years required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of sterile processing workflows, instrumentation, sterilization methods, and specialty procedural support practices.
- Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex instrument workflow issues.
- Strong understanding of infection prevention, regulatory requirements, and quality assurance practices.
- Ability to serve as a subject matter expert and provide training, mentorship, and technical guidance.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with instrument tracking systems and specialty certifications preferred.
