A new Houston area office will be opening in May of 2013. To date, Ikerd Consulting is recognized as a national leader in the area of integrated project consulting that utilizes Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) with BIM. The firm’s management team chairs two national committees on BIM for Structural Engineering and the AGC BIM Forum. They have been active members of national BIM committees and task forces for the steel (AISC), concrete (ACI) and glass (GANA) industries. The firm has achieved steady growth over its initial years with a talented team of BIM consultants that bring state of the art technology and consulting to the build environment.

Job description

This is a remote position.

Graduate Engineer (Civil focus) - Mexico – VDC Department

Location: Remote from Merida and other cities in Mexico or from our Torreon office.

About Role: We are looking for civil, mechatronics, mechanical, structural or related engineers to work within our Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) team as part of building design. This role will provide the opportunity to work on some of the most innovative and exclusive projects that IKERD are involved with globally. Candidates will need to work 48-56 hours per week and typically will work remote from home or at our Torreón office. This is for recent graduates as well as experienced individuals in engineering with a strong desire to learn.

The position requires someone who is a creative problem solver, quick thinker, and sound decision maker. They must have zero tolerance for gossip with a team first, servant-leader, heart to help the firm communicate and serve clients with excellence.

Responsibilities:

·        Learning and mastering Autodesk Civil 3D, Revit Structure, and other BIM software.

·        Assisting design in drawing production and prepare them for commercial building projects.

·        Review project files for compliance with standards /protocols.

·        Learn laser scanning for 3D model creation of buildings.

·        Implement best practice procedures for engineering analysis.

·        Produce accurate 2D drawings, 3D models.

·        Coordinating drawing production in line with project requirements and in conjunction with other disciplines.

·        Help to technically deliver CAD/BIM projects in the role of CAD and BIM coordination.

·        Ability to focus and work well alone or collaborative within a team.

·        Ability to meet tight deadlines.

Qualities and Skills:

·        Desire to obtain the Certificate of Development in BIM, Part 1 certification (CD-BIM.com) and Autodesk Professional Revit Certifications.

·        Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal. Strong English proficiency is a plus.

·        Maintain a good attitude and flexibility within a dynamic work environment.

Desirable:

·        Experience working in the commercial building industry is a plus.
