This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys building scalable data solutions, working with modern AWS technologies, and solving complex data challenges. You'll play a key role in developing reliable data pipelines and lakehouse platforms that support analytics, reporting, and decision-making across the business.

Although this role allows for primarily remote working, there is a requirement to attend the Redditch office at least once a month.

About the Job:

As a Data Engineer, you'll design, develop, and maintain cloud-native data solutions that ensure data is accurate, accessible, and trusted.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and developing scalable data pipelines using Python and PySpark
  • Building and optimising data workflows using AWS Glue, Athena, Redshift, and related AWS services
  • Supporting modern lakehouse architectures, including Apache Iceberg
  • Working with relational and NoSQL databases to ensure data is reliable and fit for purpose
  • Collaborating with analysts, engineers, product owners, and stakeholders within an Agile environment
  • Troubleshooting data issues, improving pipeline performance, and supporting production systems
  • Maintaining technical documentation and contributing to engineering best practice
To be successful you will have::

We're looking for a proactive and hands-on Data Engineer who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and delivering high-quality technical solutions.

Essential experience

  • Experience as a Data Engineer, ETL Developer, Data Platform Engineer, or a similar role
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python and PySpark
  • Experience with AWS Glue, Amazon Athena, Amazon Redshift, and cloud-based data platforms
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with both relational and NoSQL databases
  • Experience supporting or developing Apache Iceberg or modern lakehouse solutions
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments
  • Familiarity with Linux and Git-based version control

Desirable experience

  • Experience with Amazon Kinesis
  • Experience using Jira
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and modern software engineering practices

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline
