What We Do

First American is looking to hire a Title Assistant to our Development Document Review team. The position requires strong analytical ability, exceptional attention to detail, spatial and mathematical reasoning, familiarity with real property and title concepts, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The Title Assistant must be able to identify issues that are not readily apparent, determine their significance to title insurance, communicate necessary corrections clearly, and exercise sound judgment regarding when an issue requires escalation.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Conduct detailed review of condominium plans for title insurance purposes, including technical, legal, drafting, and internal consistency review.
  • Analyze condominium plans to confirm that Units, Modules, Common Area, Association Property, and Exclusive Use Common Areas (EUCAs) are properly identified, dimensioned, and consistent with the governing documents.
  • Independently plot and mathematically verify closure of Units, Modules, patios, decks, porches, garages, and other insured property or exclusive-use boundaries using bearings, distances, curve data, dimensions, and other information contained within the condominium plan.
  • Identify missing or insufficient survey information, including dimensions, bearings, curve data, radials, deflection angles, and other information necessary to establish or verify boundaries.
  • Review CC&Rs, Supplemental Declarations, Grant Deeds, Preliminary Title Reports, deeds of trust, Beneficiary Consents, Subordinations, amendments, annexation documents, and related instruments in conjunction with the condominium plan.
  • Compare definitions and property descriptions among documents to ensure consistent treatment of Units, Common Area, Association Property, EUCAs, and other property interests.
  • Verify record ownership and vesting and ensure that owner names and entity information correspond with title records and the documents being submitted for recordation.
  • Review legal descriptions for accuracy and consistency with recorded subdivision maps, condominium plans, phase/module designations, and other project documents.
  • Review lender and encumbrance information to determine whether appropriate beneficiary consent or other title-related documentation is required.
  • Additional review and revisions as needed and administrative duties as required.

Pay Range: $20.34 - $27.12 Hourly, RemoteThis hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
