Job description

Business Operations Executive (m/f/d)

Job Description

We are Brooks.

We are seeking a driven, highly organized, and business-minded Business Operations Executive (BOE) (m/f/d) to serve as the operating engine behind two of our Semiconductor Business Units — the Contamination Control Group (CCG) and our global Service organization. Ideally based in Germany, and positioned close to European operations, the field service organization, and customers, this role runs the management system that keeps the business on track: driving the operating cadence, enforcing execution discipline, making performance transparent, and holding the organization accountable to its commitments. Because this role supports the Service business, it brings particular focus to field service performance, customer satisfaction and equipment uptime, and the readiness of our field service engineers. By establishing a disciplined operating system and a trusted view of performance, the BOE enables the Business Unit GM to make faster, better-informed decisions and stay focused on strategy, customers, and growth. This is an outcomes-accountable role: the BOE is measured on the Business Units delivering their committed results, and drives the activities and discipline that make those outcomes happen — closely ensuring the Business Unit leaders and their functional partners deliver on what they are accountable and responsible for. The ideal candidate brings strong operational and financial judgment, executive presence, and the ability to influence and drive accountability across a complex, multi-region organization.

What You Will Do.

Drive Business Outcomes & Accountability

  • Act as the accountability partner to the Business Unit General Managers — driving delivery of the business outcomes they own: P&L performance, the financial and non-financial commitments in the annual operating plan (AOP), and the multi-year strategic plan.
  • Closely ensure the General Managers, and every function that serves the Business Units, build shared clarity around outcomes, responsibilities, and decision points— help teams align on what success looks like and maintain a consistent cadence for reviewing progress through tracked, owned, and measurable actions.
  • Relentlessly drive the activities that produce business outcomes — forecast accuracy and demand-signal quality, product quality and delivery performance, design-in wins and bookings, gross margin, and program milestones — surfacing gaps early and driving them to resolution.
  • Convert strategy and commitments into measurable objectives and key results (OKRs) with clear owners, and hold the organization accountable to delivering them.

Management System & Operating Cadence

  • Own and run the recurring business management system for both Business Units, including (but not limited to) Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs), Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), and program and phase-gate reviews — on a Europe-aligned calendar.
  • Orchestrate the preparation and consolidation of leadership review materials — enforcing quality standards, timelines, and pre-read deadlines.
  • Apply consistent standards across both Business Units so that every review meets the same bar for quality and rigor.

Performance Visibility & Insight

  • Maintain dashboards and reporting that give leaders clear, data-driven visibility into business performance, including Service KPIs.
  • Establish a consistent measurement system for objectives and key results (OKRs) and track progress against targets.
  • Monitor leading indicators to identify risks and trends early — surfacing issues before they become misses.

Execution & Accountability

  • Track actions, decisions, and commitments to closure, ensuring every item has a clear owner and due date.
  • Coach teams to bring structured problem-solving to every performance gap — a clear problem statement, root cause, and corrective action.
  • Escalate risks and barriers promptly, and drive issues and decisions to timely resolution.

Service & Customer Performance

  • Bring visibility to field service performance, service and spares revenue, and customer satisfaction and equipment uptime.
  • Track field service engineer training and readiness, and help establish clear service-operations processes and escalation paths.
  • Partner with Sales and Field Service on customer-satisfaction recovery plans and their execution.

Financial Performance & Planning

  • Provide objective visibility into revenue, gross margin, and contribution-margin performance, partnering with Finance to ensure accuracy.
  • Support the annual operating plan (AOP), strategic planning, and forecasting cycles — helping translate strategy into measurable objectives and disciplined, credible commitments.
  • Facilitate Gross Margin program reviews, tracking margin-improvement initiatives through to committed financial benefit.
  • Govern the cadence around new-product introduction and design-win programs, tracking milestone achievement, program returns, and delivery commitments.

Cross-Functional & Regional Collaboration

  • Partner across Operations, Quality, Sales, Finance, IT, and other functions to ensure the Business Units’ requirements are clear, aligned, and delivered.
  • Coordinate across European sites and regions so that regional performance is reconciled into a single, enterprise view.

Executive Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted partner and extension of the Business Unit General Manager, exercising delegated authority to drive execution and accountability.
  • Provide strategic context, align on business priorities, and ensure the management system reflects the reality of the business.
  • Role-model the company’s high-performance culture and lead by example.

What you will bring.

  • Based in Germany strongly preferred (other European locations considered), with the ability to travel to and work effectively across European sites, time zones, and cultures.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, operations, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in business operations, operational excellence, program or project management, finance, or general management, including experience partnering with or supporting senior executives.
  • Strong business and financial acumen — comfortable working with P&L, gross margin, forecasting, and operating metrics.
  • Demonstrated success running operating cadences or governance processes (business reviews, operating reviews, program reviews) in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities, holding others accountable to commitments made.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparing executive-level materials.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and collaboration tools such as Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
  • Ability to operate independently, exercise sound judgment, and handle confidential information with the highest level of discretion.
  • Fluency in English required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • German language proficiency strongly preferred; additional European languages a plus.
  • Service, aftermarket, or field-operations business acumen — familiarity with installed-base economics, field service operations, and customer satisfaction / uptime metrics.
  • Semiconductor, capital equipment, or advanced-manufacturing industry experience.
  • Familiarity with new-product introduction (NPI) and phase-gate processes.
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree.

What We Offer.

  • A combined environment that values continuous learning & growth, problem solving, innovation, and teamwork to achieve mutual success.

  • Employee Referral Program

  • Mental Health & Wellness Benefits

  • Continuing education opportunities
