Description

The Senior Director, Commercial & FP&A Finance is a senior leadership role within a lean finance organization, responsible for driving financial planning, strategic analysis, and performance management across the company. This role partners closely with executive leadership to deliver clear financial insights, support decision-making, and enhance long-term business value. 

The position oversees budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and management reporting, while ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and operational priorities. In addition, the Senior Director leads Gross-to-Net (GTN) modeling and pricing analytics, integrating commercial assumptions with financial forecasts to improve revenue visibility and decision quality. 

This role also ensures robust financial systems, internal controls, and compliance with US GAAP, and supports corporate initiatives including commercialization, business development, and financing activities. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This is a remote-based position located in the United States.

Responsibilities: 

1. Financial Planning & Performance Management: 

  • Lead the company’s annual budgeting process, periodic forecasts, and long-range financial planning 
  • Prepare and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts, including scenario and sensitivity analyses 
  • Conduct variance analyses to identify key drivers and provide actionable recommendations 
  • Monitor business performance against plans and support executive decision-making 
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic initiatives, investment decisions, and business cases 

2. Strategic Finance & Business Partnering: 

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and department heads 
  • Partner cross-functionally to support commercialization, licensing, M&A, and growth initiatives 
  • Evaluate financial risks and opportunities related to new business activities 
  • Support Board of Directors and investor-related financial reporting requirements 
  • Collaborate with Commercial, Supply Chain, and other teams to improve operational efficiency and resource allocation 

3. Gross-to-Net (GTN) & Revenue Analytics: 

  • Oversee GTN modeling, government pricing, and revenue analytics 
  • Integrate pricing strategy with GTN assumptions through cross-functional collaboration 
  • Ensure consistency between commercial assumptions, market dynamics, and financial forecasts 
  • Manage external vendors supporting GTN, pricing, and financial data warehousing 
  • Provide insights into net revenue drivers, reimbursement dynamics, and discount structures 

4. Cash Flow, Treasury & Capital Planning:

  • Lead cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and working capital management 
  • Support treasury activities and capital allocation decisions 
  • Assist with financing activities and interactions with lenders or investors 

5. Systems, Reporting & Process Optimization: 

  • Enhance FP&A processes, reporting capabilities, and forecasting accuracy 
  • Develop dashboards and automated reporting tools leveraging ERP and BI systems 
  • Improve data quality, transparency, and scalability of finance operations 
  • Ensure alignment between forecasted and actual financial results in collaboration with Accounting 

6. Accounting, Compliance & Controls: 

  • Lead technical accounting research and prepare position papers on new/proposed standards 
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and applicable reporting requirements 
  • Support external audits, internal audits, and SOX/internal control frameworks 
  • Develop and maintain practical and effective finance policies and procedures 

7. Inventory & Long-Range Planning: 

  • Lead inventory forecasting in collaboration with Commercial and Supply Chain teams 
  • Maintain long-term financial models supporting tax, valuation (e.g., 409A), and impairment analyses 
  • Continuously refine assumptions underlying long-range financial projections 

8. Leadership & Cross-Functional Execution: 

  • Support finance and accounting team development, including hiring, training, and coaching 
  • Coordinate with global teams and external partners to ensure execution against priorities 
  • Partner with the CFO on strategic initiatives, special projects, and organizational priorities 
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related field required 
  • CPA, MBA, or CFA preferred 
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in finance/accounting with leadership responsibility 
  • Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry preferred 
  • Strong experience in FP&A (budgeting, forecasting, modeling, variance analysis)
  • Korean language proficiency is a plus 
  • Experience supporting executive leadership and Board-level reporting 
  • Familiarity with commercialization planning, GTN, pricing, and revenue recognition 
  • Knowledge of clinical development, regulatory, manufacturing, and commercial finance 
  • Experience with global operations, intercompany transactions, and FX forecasting 
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP; technical accounting experience preferred 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities 
  • High attention to detail, integrity, and sound judgment 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills 
  • Proven ability to lead teams and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines

The anticipated annual base salary range for this role is $200,000 to $250,000. Final compensation depends on multiple factors including but not limited to, relevant experience, skillset, depth and breadth of knowledge, internal equity, and external market factors.
