Job Description:
ToxStrategies, a division of BlueRidge Life Sciences (BRLS), is seeking a toxicologist, environmental health scientist, or risk assessment professional to join our expanding Causation Analysis consulting practice. At BRLS, our teams work on some of the hardest, most complex problems regarding environmental health risk. We firmly believe that our people constitute our most valuable asset and as such, we invest considerable effort in fostering a collaborative culture and collegial work environment. Our staff pursue technical and professional excellence while maintaining a work-life balance. BRLS supports on-site, hybrid and remote work. Our leadership team, renowned for their extensive knowledge and experience, guides a technical staff of highly educated and credentialed experts who are passionately dedicated to advancing science.
The position involves application of the risk assessment paradigm to comprehensively evaluate potential human health risks associated with exposures to chemicals in foods, consumer products, personal care products, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and environmental media (air, water, soil, and sediments). The successful candidate will have academic course work covering chemistry, toxicology, environmental health, risk assessment, exposure assessment, statistics, and chemical fate and transport mechanisms.
On a daily basis, responsibilities will involve reviewing toxicological data, performing literature reviews, constructing exposure assessments, and performing human health risk assessments to determine general and specific causation. A significant component of the position will involve technical writing in the form of case summaries, reports, and scientific manuscripts, as well as verbal communication via presentations and teleconferences. This role requires skillful attention to detail, collaboration with project team members, and independent thinking to approach research questions. This position includes assisting with quantitative methods such as statistical analysis, data cleaning and manipulation, environmental modeling, and exposure and risk calculations.
The position involves regular collaboration on multidisciplinary teams that may include toxicologists, epidemiologists, industrial hygienists, engineers, and biostatisticians, many of whom are recognized as leaders in their respective fields. Active participation in the scientific community such as presenting at professional meetings (e.g., AIHCE, ISES, SOT, SRA, SETAC), serving on committees, and publishing scientific manuscripts is strongly encouraged.
