Job description

Data Exchange Technical Analyst

Location: 100% Remote (Work From Home) — Open to candidates nationwide across the Philippines

Work Schedule: Night Shift (Aligned with US Eastern Standard Time / EST)

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Exchange Technical Analyst to take ownership of daily data flow monitoring, file processing, and technical troubleshooting. This is a 100% remote (Work From Home) opportunity open to qualified candidates anywhere in the Philippines, working night shifts to support US Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours.

In this role, you will investigate complex data issues across inbound and outbound data feeds—including healthcare eligibility files, accumulator files, claims data, and REST API exchanges. You will serve as the core line of defense for data health, using SQL queries, Linux command-line tools, and system log analysis to audit datasets, identify root causes, and perform critical data cleanups. By taking ownership of data management and operational troubleshooting, you will play a vital role in streamlining operations and empowering our core development team to focus on building feature-rich applications. Comprehensive onboarding and dedicated training (1 month) on internal tools and systems will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

Data Exchange & File Troubleshooting

  • Monitor and investigate daily inbound and outbound file transfers (SFTP) and API data pipelines.

  • Audit large flat files, CSVs, fixed-width formats, JSON, and XML payloads to identify missing, duplicate, or corrupted data records.

  • Trace data workflows to pinpoint points of failure across system integrations and automated file transfers.

  • Perform routine data auditing and cleanups to keep production pipelines accurate and reliable.

API & Transaction Analysis

  • Analyze REST API transactions, inspecting request/response payloads, HTTP status codes, and error logs to identify data or formatting discrepancies.

  • Validate that incoming and outgoing API data meets validation and schema specifications.

  • Document recurring API errors and assist internal software engineers in isolating edge cases.

Database & Data Management

  • Write intermediate-to-advanced SQL queries (utilizing complex JOINs, aggregations, and subqueries) to investigate production database issues.

  • Reconcile raw source files and API payloads against target relational database tables (Informix).

  • Maintain and execute operational SQL scripts used for recurring data audits and validation.

Linux & Systems Analysis

  • Work directly in Linux environments, utilizing command-line utilities (grep, awk, sed, find) to search, filter, and analyze large file sets.

  • Review application, server, and execution logs to diagnose processing failures and scheduled job anomalies.

  • Verify file permissions, folder structures, and process execution steps across Linux and Windows environments.

Issue Management & Internal Collaboration

  • Manage data processing issues end-to-end, evaluating severity based on business impact and processing deadlines.

  • Perform root-cause analysis to distinguish between raw data errors, configuration issues, system bugs, and infrastructure downtime.

  • Work closely with the internal development team to hand off complex application bugs with clear evidence, log traces, and reproducible steps.

Required Qualifications

  • Schedule & Location: Ability to work US EST business hours (night shift in the PH) from a quiet, reliable work-from-home setup anywhere in the Philippines.

  • Experience: 3+ years in a technical role such as Data Operations Analyst, Systems Analyst, Production Support Analyst, or Application Support Engineer.

  • SQL Proficiency: Solid hands-on experience writing relational database queries, specifically multi-table JOINs, data reconciliations, and filtering scripts.

  • Linux Environment: Practical experience navigating Linux systems via the command line to inspect, search, and manipulate large data files.

  • API & Data Formats: Working knowledge of inspecting REST API payloads and parsing JSON, XML, CSV, and delimited flat files.

  • Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to independently trace data through complex system workflows, identify anomalies, and perform root-cause analysis.

  • Communication: Clear written and verbal English communication skills with the ability to summarize technical findings for internal developers and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior domain experience in healthcare, pharmacy benefit management (PBM), insurance claims, or eligibility/accumulator data flows.

  • Experience with enterprise relational databases (Informix, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server).

  • Exposure to ETL platforms (such as Pentaho) or scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell).

  • Familiarity with API testing utilities (e.g., Postman) and ticket-tracking software (e.g., Jira).
