Job description

The Music Publisher 1 (on-call) is a part of the Publishing Services Department (PSD) of the Church, housed specifically in the Scripture and Music Production Division on the music publishing team.  This position reports to the Music Publishing Team Lead for the Church. The music publisher partners with other music engravers/publishers, asset managers, project coordinators, and project managers to provide multi-channel music design and publishing services for originating departments. While this team does not produce any audio or video music assets, it is responsible for the stewardship of the files and publishing them in Church channels. In addition to providing engraved sheet music, the music publishing team helps curate online databases for Church music libraries and assist with archival and restoration activities. Core projects include: Hymns for Home and Church collection, Youth Theme music, Magazine music, Temple dedication arrangements, and others.

This particular on-call role would assist in transitioning language files from Finale to Dorico and will need to ensure the sheet music is properly preserved during this transition of systems. The ideal candidate has previous engraving experience, high music literacy, understanding of vocal and instrumental styles of music, knowledge of music styles in print and performance globally, and a flexible, creative mind that is willing to collaborate and meet challenges head-on.

Due to the on-call nature of this role, hours worked should not exceed 20 hours per week on average and will ebb and flow according to project needs.  The music publishing team is based in Salt Lake City, but this position can be fully remote within the United States. It is a grade 93 with a starting hourly rate of $35-$40 per hour, depending on experience.
