Payroll Manager- Paylocity:

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead and oversee all payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for a growing organization. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Paylocity and Unanet, strong knowledge of payroll regulations, and a proven ability to manage payroll processes, compliance requirements, audits, and reporting. The Payroll Manager will work closely with HR, Finance, and leadership teams to ensure payroll accuracy, regulatory compliance, and continuous process improvement.

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the end-to-end payroll process for multi-state employees.
  • Administer payroll operations using Paylocity and Unanet.
  • Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule, including salaries, hourly wages, bonuses, commissions, and special payments.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
  • Review and reconcile payroll reports, deductions, garnishments, benefits, and tax withholdings.
  • Coordinate payroll tax filings and ensure timely reporting and payments.
  • Manage payroll audits and support internal and external audit requests.
  • Partner with HR regarding employee onboarding, offboarding, compensation changes, and benefits administration.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure data integrity across payroll and timekeeping systems.
  • Develop and implement payroll policies, procedures, and controls to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Supervise and mentor payroll staff, providing training and performance guidance.
  • Generate and analyze payroll metrics, reports, and financial data for leadership.
  • Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and payroll reconciliations.

Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including payroll leadership or management responsibilities.

Required Skills: 

  • Hands-on experience with Paylocity payroll administration.
  • Experience utilizing Unanet for labor, project, timekeeping, and payroll-related functions.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Experience processing multi-state payroll.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including reporting and data analysis.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service abilities.

Desired Skills:  

  • Knowledge of labor distribution, project accounting, and indirect cost structures.
  • Experience integrating payroll, HRIS, accounting, and timekeeping systems.
  • Familiarity with audits, DCAA compliance, and government contracting environments.
