WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to serve as a trusted technical consultant supporting database platforms that power a high-traffic, public-facing digital environment. The ideal candidate can work independently across database operations, user connectivity, security, backup and recovery, data integrity, upgrades, performance tuning, and reporting.

This role is well suited for a hands-on, client-focused professional who can resolve complex database issues, strengthen availability and recoverability, and communicate clearly with technical and nontechnical stakeholders in a highly visible enterprise environment.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Reporting to our Delivery Operations Manager, as a Full-Time Specialist on our team, you will administer and optimize a multi-platform database ecosystem supporting a large-scale website and content management environment. Core technologies include MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, Linux, and UNIX, with responsibilities spanning daily administration, performance, security, high availability, disaster recovery, and operational governance.

Working closely with client stakeholders, web developers, systems administrators, and content teams, you will support releases, upgrades, migrations, and service improvements while protecting data integrity and minimizing operational downtime.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or another related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of related experience in database administration or database operations.
  • Hands-on experience with MySQL and Oracle, including installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, maintenance, performance tuning, backup, and recovery.
  • Experience administering database platforms in Linux or UNIX environments.
  • Experience supporting high-availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities for enterprise database systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex database performance, connectivity, security, and integration issues independently.
  • Knowledge of database security, access controls, auditing, data integrity, backup governance, and recovery validation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the professionalism to operate effectively in a client-facing consulting environment.
  • Experience with SQL Server is preferred.
  • Experience supporting content management systems, high-traffic websites, regulated environments, or federal security and records requirements is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer, maintain, monitor, and optimize MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server database systems supporting a high-traffic digital platform.
  • Manage database operations, user connectivity, security, backup and recovery, data integrity, updates, and reporting.
  • Install and configure database instances; tune instances and queries; manage storage and capacity; and support scalable website performance.
  • Implement and maintain high-availability and disaster recovery capabilities, including Oracle RAC and RMAN, to minimize downtime and support continuity of operations.
  • Define and apply best practices for database setup, monitoring, backup and recovery, installation, tuning, auditing, and operational support.
  • Manage scheduled database backups and conduct regular recovery testing to verify that data can be restored within operational requirements.
  • Monitor database health and performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues affecting availability, response times, or data accuracy.
  • Diagnose complex performance, connectivity, integration, and security issues involving critical applications and website databases.
  • Perform Linux and UNIX administration tasks required for database platforms, including system parameter configuration, storage preparation, and system monitoring.
  • Manage database users, roles, privileges, and access controls to protect sensitive information and prevent unauthorized changes.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce procedures that protect database security, integrity, retention, and recoverability in accordance with applicable organizational standards.
  • Support CMS integrations by aligning database structures and services with content storage, retrieval, search, reporting, and archival needs.
  • Collaborate with developers, systems administrators, and content teams on releases, upgrades, data migrations, and production support activities.
  • Maintain documentation covering database architecture, configurations, dependencies, recovery procedures, and standard operating procedures.
  • Evaluate and recommend database tools, platform upgrades, automation opportunities, and process improvements that strengthen performance and data governance.
