Key Responsibilities (What You Are Doing)

  • Copy-edit and proofread editorial content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, usage, clarity, consistency, and adherence to established style guidelines.
  • Review copy efficiently and accurately while managing tight editorial deadlines.
  • Collaborate with editors, writers, and fact-checkers to review edits, resolve questions, and maintain the integrity of each story.
  • Check contract proofs carefully and make corrections or updates as needed.
  • Apply a meticulous eye for detail to identify errors, inconsistencies, and opportunities to improve readability.
  • Manage multiple assignments and shifting priorities while maintaining a high standard of editorial quality.
  • Communicate edits and editorial recommendations clearly and constructively with cross-functional partners.

Qualifications (What We’re Looking For)

  • Previous professional copy-editing, proofreading, or related editorial experience, or equivalent experience demonstrating strong command of editorial standards.
  • Deep knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and usage, with the ability to apply editorial style guidelines consistently.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, polished work.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under tight deadlines while balancing multiple assignments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative approach and ability to work effectively with editors, writers, fact-checkers, and other editorial partners.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, including the ability to adapt as editorial needs evolve.
  • This is a remote position.

The hourly rate for this role is $50 per hour. This position is not eligible for bonus or commission compensation. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
